Linger a while on this friendly campsite in southern Scotland.

Moffat is our Club campsite in the Scottish lowlands. It’s an ideal stopping off point for journeys through Scotland. This pretty Victorian Spa town is just three minutes off the M74. But Moffat is much more than just a pit stop, its idyllic location more than warrants a longer stay.

The 180-pitch Moffat campsite boasts a fine setting in a wide valley surrounded by magnificent scenery. The well laid out site has a good range of well-placed facilities catering for all campers needs.

If you choose to linger a little longer in the area, the town of Moffat is a great place to start your exploration. Just a five minute walk from the campsite, the town boasts one of the broadest high streets in Scotland. Here you'll find the fountain topped by the statue of Colvin Ram, the famous Moffat Toffee Shop and the Star Hotel which appears in the Guinness Book of Records as the narrowest hotel in the world. Moffat also offers a variety of shopping including a weekly market on Fridays and a monthly producers market.

Nearby Station Park offers a  variety of attractions including a boating lake and gardens. Next to the campsite the Hammerlands Centre has a garden centre, cafe and fishery.

The town holds an annual walking festival in October and from the campsite you can access some of the finest hilwalking in the south of Scotland. Also close by is the Grey Mares Tail, a magnificent waterfalldropping 200ft from Loch Skene.

There are also a number of historic houses and castles in the area. Drumlanrig Castle near Thornhill - Scotland’s oldest inhabited house - contains artwork by Rembrandt and Da Vinci and has wonderful landscaped gardens and woods. Medieval  Caerlaverock Castle is located close to nearby  Dumfries.

The Booking in and "pitching " procedures need to be enhanced as there are often frustrating delays. The provision of more than one toilet waste emptying point siting should be considered. proximaty to the Town and amenities is a bonus especially for Motorhome owners.

Me and my family visit this site frequently.

Me and my family visit this site frequently. Sheree and the team are very friendly, helpful and welcoming. Site just off the town centre with woollen mill close by. We have young grandchildren and they enjoy the local boating pond, pitch n putt and swings. Close by also is local co-op. Site is to high spec, with wifi. Cleanliness is second to none and outlay of the site is perfect. One large toilet block with laundry. Overall me and my family cannot fault this site at all or the staff. I recommend this site and commend the staff for the work they put in which is to the highest of standards.

If you are thinking of a tour of Scotland don't dismiss this site it's great for a few days or more to get the taste of the Scottish Borders or for overnight stays it the best feeling turning into the site after a long drive to see an immaculate site with a state of the art toilet block and a great welcome from the hardworking managers . What I love is the help we are given to pitch, several time we arrive after a long drive the managers are happy to see us back onto the pitch even if it's pouring with rain! The setting with the beautiful scenery around you but you are literally just in around the corner from the high street. 2 dog walks one enclosed and ideal for our 2 old doggies. Pitches are spacious and well kept. Easy to get to from the M74 just be aware of where to turn into the site Lots of places to eat and a supermarket on your doorstep. Yes we love Moffat and am about to book another stay.

Had a lovely time here with our friends. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Site is very clean and toilets are great since their upgrade. It is a very handy site for the town and there are lovely walks and a lovely park just next door. Had a lovely meal in the Annandale Hotel. Booked for August and added another date to our booking which was not a problem to the staff. Looking forward to returning
