The road and rail noise is horrendous and continues all night. We arrived about 12.15 pm and had to search in the hotel to find anyone. There are still bonfires waiting to be burnt and a lot of rubbish including glass about. The camping area is covered in damp slippery moss. The ladies facilities had 3 toilets only one of which had a window the others were in darkness as there was no lighting. The whole place was rundown and needed lots of TLC which could make it into an ideal stop-off for travel north and south.

Although the owners were very helpful and obliging and were doing their best to make the site ready and welcoming, we found it covered in weeds and debris from an old static and not suitable for any length of stay . They were in the process of removing and burning the rubbish from the site when we arrived. It had been a tennis court and therefore the ground was solid and an awning would not have been possible to stake out. The garden area was nice but too far away for hook up and unsuitable for a motorhome. We are seasoned campers happy to stay on large or small sites, but were very disappointed with what this one was offering at this moment in time. Work was needed to improve and organise the area for campers. Maybe, for next year the owners will have got it sorted. The woods around the site were a nice backdrop, but noise from the nearby road and railway line may not be to everyones liking.
