Discover Dorset's beautiful beaches & surrounding area from our Moreton campsite.
Dorset’s beautiful beaches, heath and downlands are all accessible from our Moreton Club campsite located in the heart of Wessex and surrounded by Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Our 120-pitch site is open and spacious with a good range of facilities, including two amenity blocks, a small children’s play area and a dog walk.
Moreton station next to the campsite is on routes to Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth and the bus stop, half a mile from site, will take you to the pretty county town of Dorchester where you can enjoy a number of walking trails including the Thomas Hardy trail and the Roman Town Walk. The town’s Borough Gardens has tennis courts, a bowling green and a children’s play area and hosts a number of events through the summer including live bands and a teddy bear’s picnic.
Head to the sleepy village of Moreton and stop off at the Tearooms, situated in the old school at Moreton for a cream tea. Thomas Edward Lawrence, popularly known as “Lawrence of Arabia” is buried in the church here. A more elaborate memorial can be found at St. Martins church, Wareham.
The village forms part of the “Lawrence of Arabia Walking Trail. The walks take in Bovington, Clouds Hill, Moreton Church and Lawrence’s grave.
Attractions in the area include the Tank Museum at Bovington, Monkey World Ape rescue Centre in Wareham and Lulworth and Corfe Castles. For the best beaches, head to the circularLulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay – great for rock pooling and swimming – and the blue flag beach at Swanage.

The site is ideally placed for visiting the Purbecks, Corfe Castle, Swanage, Weymouth, Tank Museum and Monkey World. Good walks (some strenuous) in the Purbecks. Beautiful scenery and coast line.
The railway station next door has a regular train service to Dorchester and Poole. A car/transport is necessary for anywhere else. Small local shop selling basics approx 1 mile nearest supermarket Dorchester or Weymouth, Frampton Arms next door to the site offers bar and restaurant meals. Some noise from passing trains but not particularly troublesome unless you want absolute peace and quiet. It doesn't seem to bother the deer who visit the site! Busy site in summer but a good place to stay to enjoy this area of Dorset any season.

A good site in a good position spoiled by the noise of passing trains, their horns and (worst of all) the irritating bleep of the closed crossing alarm. Day and Night.
We won't be staying again because of the noise - which is a pity as the staff were excellent, the site tidy and in a great place for visiting the area.

Although the site is a reasonable size, it was relatively quiet when we visited towards the end of season. The pitches seemed well maintained, although there were a couple of areas taped off to allow grass to regrow. Only one of the two toilet blocks was in operation, but this was clean and well maintained. Water always seemed hot. Showers were in a separate room from the toilets, a touch I always like. Obviously a busy site in the summer as here were 2 or possibly 3 site assistants. We noticed that the childrens play area had more than the usual club site equipment. The Railway line runs alongside the site, but the noise of the trains was not intrusive. Handy pub next to the site serves good food and there is a lot of railway memorabilia in the bar. Handy for Weymouth, Corfe and Swanage. Lawrence of Arabias cottage and grave are nearby.

“Moreton is a real favourite of ours and we have been going there for years.
Moreton is brilliantly run and extremely clean. It has a real community feeling and the grounds are always splendid. Over the years we have recommended many and it too has become their favourite.”
