This is an excellent campsite for using as a base & visiting the surrounding area like Dorchester & Weymouth. You are in the country but not far from the main roads (1/2mile away). The landowner Derek gives you an excellent greeting and couldn't be more helpful. At the time we stayed it was £9 with electric & £6 without. There are very basic facility's, but that's the way we like it. I think the best approach to this campsite is from Upwey or Matinstown but definitely NOT from Monkton because the road is narrow and sometimes gated...

Rural tranquility best describes the location.

This review is for Ashton Field

Rural tranquility best describes the location. The campsite is right at the foot of Maiden Castle and has a stream flowing through the bottom of the field. 5 minutes drive from Dorchester and Weymouth and walking distance to the nearest village where there is a pub. The site is run by a very friendly and helpful elderly couple who keep the site very spic and span. We will definitely return next year.
