Ashton field is well kept pretty site and full of wild birds chirping away all day with buzzards, swallows, wrens, ect It has a little brook running through the side which is great in summer if you have a hot dog to cool down! Derick potters in his small allotment most days for a hour or so and if you need anything he is always on hand to offer help. Ashton field is a great base to explore many parts of Dorset with bus train and coach links. We have been there twice once last winter and April this year for weekend breaks I liked the peacefulness so much I've booked a week in September! It really could be a Hideaway site! A hidden little gem and a pleasure to visit.

This is an excellent campsite for using as a base & visiting the surrounding area like Dorchester & Weymouth. You are in the country but not far from the main roads (1/2mile away). The landowner Derek gives you an excellent greeting and couldn't be more helpful. At the time we stayed it was £9 with electric & £6 without. There are very basic facility's, but that's the way we like it. I think the best approach to this campsite is from Upwey or Matinstown but definitely NOT from Monkton because the road is narrow and sometimes gated...
