Camping near the lovely moors and beaches of North Devon.

Our Umberleigh Club campsite in the Taw Valley is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows and is close to the moors and beaches of north Devon.

This peaceful family-friendly site enjoys a rural location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities on site include clean, well maintained toilets and showers, a children’s play area, games room with infant's play area, skittles, table tennis table, table football and pool. There is a TV lounge, fishing pool and dog walk. There are also two tennis courts for hire, with free tennis coaching for children during school holidays.

A quarter of a mile from the campsite is the village of Umberleigh. Here you will find an art gallery, an antique shop and a local pub. Umberleigh is also one of the stations on the picturesque Tarka Line which runs between Barnstaple and Exeter.

For clean, sandy beaches and surfing head to Westward Ho, Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and for family days out there’s the factory outlet Atlantic Village and Atlantis Adventure Park, Bideford, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Quince Honey Farm.

The site was very convenient for the local train service to Barnstaple or Exeter, which we used a lot during our stay. the Taka trail is a must either on bike or foot. its very flat and easy to use. well sign posted from the station where there is a cycle hire shop that hires trailers for Dogs too. very convenient location for the North Devon show but unfortunately was rained off this year. Easy reach for the beaches. Visited Arlington House with its great Carriage collection and walks in the grounds. the brilliant exhibistion of model ships in the house made from Bone and hair. will worth a look. All in All a good holiday and the camp site staff were the friendlest and most helpful staff I have met. in fact the train staff were friendly and the cycle hire centre were too. must be something in the water :)

Lovely open site, with a slight slope, and with views across to the hills.

Lovely open site, with a slight slope, and with views across to the hills. The shower and washing facilities were immaculate - very impressed. Pitches were a good size, although wish we had chosen a hard standing rather than a grassed pitch as we had a lot of rain over the two nights we were there. About 20 minutes drive to RHS Rosemoor - a must visit even if you're not RHS members. Westward Ho! is also close by, although not that impressed. But lots of small coastal villages can be visited in about a 30/40 minute drive. I'm sure we will be back again.
