Camping near the lovely moors and beaches of North Devon.

Our Umberleigh Club campsite in the Taw Valley is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows and is close to the moors and beaches of north Devon.

This peaceful family-friendly site enjoys a rural location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities on site include clean, well maintained toilets and showers, a children’s play area, games room with infant's play area, skittles, table tennis table, table football and pool. There is a TV lounge, fishing pool and dog walk. There are also two tennis courts for hire, with free tennis coaching for children during school holidays.

A quarter of a mile from the campsite is the village of Umberleigh. Here you will find an art gallery, an antique shop and a local pub. Umberleigh is also one of the stations on the picturesque Tarka Line which runs between Barnstaple and Exeter.

For clean, sandy beaches and surfing head to Westward Ho, Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and for family days out there’s the factory outlet Atlantic Village and Atlantis Adventure Park, Bideford, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Quince Honey Farm.

This is such a peaceful site, and the sunsets are spectacular on a fine evening. A little off the beaten track but all the better for it. The site Managers are helpful and keep the place immaculate . It's very handy for RHS Rosemoor and several National Trust properties are within easy reach.

How many Club sites offer a walk through field & woods to a fishing lake within the site! All facilities are very well maintained and staff are friendly and helpful. It is a very good base to day-trip from In windy conditions it can be a bit exposed, otherwise top marks from me!

Only our second time towing.

This review is for Umberleigh

Only our second time towing. The site was easy to get to and find, following the instructions available online. Lovely welcome after a long drive. Everything that we could possibly need on site was pointed out and a choice of pitches was offered. Fish and Chip van on a Tuesday night is a must. All the facilities were spotlessly clean. Not even a mm of mould in the showers. Family bathroom/disabled wet room was very useful too as the shower has a movable hose. Not able to adjust the temperature though and it was a bit hot for my 2 and 4 year olds. Nice play area but not really suitable for my two as it was very high but they loved the games pitch. We didn't make it to the game area in the barn as the weather was so good. Jo and Ron were wonderful hosts throughout our stay. Not convinced they ever stop. The pitches were immaculately kept too. Ron mowing the grass and I guess Jo tending the bedding pot plants by the reception area. They even ordered the weather and we stayed an extra night. The site was always quite at night too. Just lovely. Barnstaple is about 10 mins drive away with a very useful Tesco Extra (and petrol station) and Dunelm (for when your husband decides he's had enough of sleeping bags and wants a duvet and more pillows). We spent most of our days at Saunton Sands which is a wonderful stretch of sandy beach. The kids want to go back next year and so do we.
