Camping near the lovely moors and beaches of North Devon.

Our Umberleigh Club campsite in the Taw Valley is surrounded by rolling hills and meadows and is close to the moors and beaches of north Devon.

This peaceful family-friendly site enjoys a rural location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Facilities on site include clean, well maintained toilets and showers, a children’s play area, games room with infant's play area, skittles, table tennis table, table football and pool. There is a TV lounge, fishing pool and dog walk. There are also two tennis courts for hire, with free tennis coaching for children during school holidays.

A quarter of a mile from the campsite is the village of Umberleigh. Here you will find an art gallery, an antique shop and a local pub. Umberleigh is also one of the stations on the picturesque Tarka Line which runs between Barnstaple and Exeter.

For clean, sandy beaches and surfing head to Westward Ho, Saunton, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe and for family days out there’s the factory outlet Atlantic Village and Atlantis Adventure Park, Bideford, The Milky Way, The Big Sheep and the Quince Honey Farm.

Local train station for Barnstaple - Exeter within walking distance. Local pub also within easy reach does good food and menu fairly varied. Good location for accessing Tarka trail and the many north Devon coastal resorts. Large supermarkets at Barnstaple . Local bakery delivers orders to site , can definitely recommend the granary loaf along with the fish and chip van every Tuesday . Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site and we will definitely be returning at some point soon.

A beautiful & peaceful part of Devon.

This review is for Umberleigh

A beautiful & peaceful part of Devon. Central for Tarka railway for visits to Exmouth, Exeter and Barnstaple with parking available at Umberleigh station. Ideal countryside for walkers & cyclists (Tarka cycle trail close by) with Exmoor and the Hartland peninsula & its Abbey within easy reach. Lynton & Lynmouth are a must see, taking in a coffee & meander at Watersmeet. For keen gardeners a visit to Eggesford Garden Centre is a must & a meal recommended as is a walk on the Tarka trail close by. For the younger set looking to improve their castle building skills, there are the sandy beaches of Westward Ho!, Braunton, Croyde, Combe Martin & Woolacombe. You can see glass blowing at Dartington Crystal factory in Great Torrington or visit the beautiful gardens at RHS Rosemoor. Also worth a visit is the National Trust property of Arlington Court with its museum's wonderful display of carriages in the stable block. A stones throw from the site at Chittlehampton one can find the Cobbaton Combat Vehicles Museum, a private collection of WWII tanks, trucks, armoured cars & allied equipment also items from the Home Front. There are good food pubs aplenty, gardens for flower lovers, bird gardens, wildlife park, steam railway, nature trails & a Honey farm or one can just sit in a quiet piece of beautiful English countryside & soak up some rays. There is plenty on offer just waiting for you to discover! Enjoy
