There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.
Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club campsite. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.
This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual showers rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off site, Tavistock has a large dog walking area on site too.
Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hill and wooded valleys. For example, the 11-mile Granite Way passes north of Tavistock campsite from Lydford to Okehampton and takes in spectacular views of Meldon viaduct, Meldon lake and Okehampton castle.
A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.
The beautiful village of Sheepstor south east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

I have visited this site on several occasions, I call it my bolt hole as I live about an hours drive away and use it to get away from the busy every day life activities. Tavistock is a lovely market town with a wonderful panier market and such unusual shops, makes good retail therapy! You can hop on a bus, just outside the site, walk in or if lazy drive into town. Positioned on the edge of Dartmoor, good walking country. An hour from the sea and under an hour into Plymouth. Perfectly positioned for any type of holiday.
The staff can usually sort out any problems you may have or will help to find someone who can. They are very friendly and keep the site well maintained. Toilet/shower/washing up block always spotless.
Due to its position I would recommend it to all types of people, there is something for everyone within an hours drive!

We used the site for an overnight stop on the way home to Cornwall, and were amazed by the facilities in the toilet block. Honestly, you could eat your meal in there in comfort and style. It was so clean and fresh smelling, gents toilets often have a distinct aroma, not these!
Coupled with this each shower was in its own cubicle with toilet and wash basin. We also found the dog walk to be excellent, we had an eleven week old puppy which was keen to run so when we found it was in order to take gher off the lead in the dog walk area we were delighted.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all we shall be certainly stopping there again, and again!
