There are glorious views of Dartmoor National Park from this lovely Devon campsite.
Fabulous views and numerous walking and cycling opportunities await those camping at our lovely Tavistock Club campsite. This pretty site lies on the central western boundary of the stunning Dartmoor National Park.
This spacious campsite accommodates up to 80 units and has modern facilities including individual showers rooms with toilet and sink, disabled facilities and a laundry and washing up area. As well as the many dog walking opportunities off site, Tavistock has a large dog walking area on site too.
Leave your car on site and venture on foot or two wheels and explore Dartmoor’s sweeping hill and wooded valleys. For example, the 11-mile Granite Way passes north of Tavistock campsite from Lydford to Okehampton and takes in spectacular views of Meldon viaduct, Meldon lake and Okehampton castle.
A good place to start your visit to Dartmoor is the National Park Visitor Centre at Princetown, east of Tavistock campsite. Displays and exhibitions give a wonderful insight into the history, culture and wildlife of the area. Princetown also offers excellent access to the north and south moors for hill walkers.
The beautiful village of Sheepstor south east of Tavistock campsite is where Stephen Spielberg’s Warhorse was filmed, while north of the campsite, Lydford boasts a castle and the stunning Lydford Gorge which stretches for one and a half miles from the Devil’s Cauldron whirlpool to the 100ft Whitelady Waterfall.

First caravaning trip to Dartmoor and first visit the the Tavistock site. We were warmly greeted on arrival and the site was very clean. Shower cubicles were good, with loo and wash basin contained within them. The site makes a great base to explore the moors from. A must visit for anyone who enjoys the occasional pub meal is the Peter Tavy Inn. Will definately be going back to the site for a second stay in the future.

Nice site but on arrival because we did not want a hook up we were put in an un-level field behind the main camp - although there were plenty of spaces in the main camp unused.Tried various places but impossible to get caravan level for 2 nights and so poor sleep and uncomfortable stay. As site was not at all busy as the lady said we were not offered any other alternative to the field behind the main camp. Being unlevel ruined our stay. It seems that if you do not want a hook up you are allocated an inferior pitch on this site as all the hook ups were on level ground.

A really well kept and welcoming site.
The team are a credit to the organisation. Showers were huge, spotless and never busy. Dog walks was so good the dog wouldn't come out! (took 20 minutes one day to catch him!)
Walk to Tavistock was great, about 40 mins over the moor, via sheep, lambs, ponies and golfers. Lovely town with all you could want.
The blue flash bus to Plymouth was a nice day out and the Barbican Pasty shop as wonderfull as always (cauliflour cheese pasty to die for)
Weather was typically sunshine and showers but site drained quickly and no problems at all with puddles.
So much to do that we soon ran out of time.
We keep our caravan in storage on the site so this means that we will be back frequently to finish all the thinjgs we couldn;t fit in. Storage is very reasonable and means we can reduce fuel costs to get there and its waiting on our choice of pitch whenever we book.
Again just fab. Thank you Lynn Nigel and team.
