This site is a brilliant site to site on.

This review is for Prickly Ball Farm

This site is a brilliant site to site on. If you want peace and quiet with lovely views, then this is the site for you. This site has a small farm with a hedgehog hospital as well. They have donkey, ponies, chickens, pigs, goates, alpacas and other small animals. If you have a family your children will love it looking around the farm, and if you stay on site you can go in when you like (within times). The views are lovely looking over Newton Abbot and further. The toilets are big, clean and tidy with male and female separate which both have toilets and a shower in each. Separate area for tents to wash up. The only thing i would suggest is the grey water container need to be sink into the decking making emtpying easier of caravan wheel water containers. All pitches for caravans are very close to water and eletric hookup. The people who run this site are very friendly, talkative and help you if needed. The pitch where we was, was level and on hard standing which suited us as our caravan is a twin axle weighing 2ton. We enjoyed staying at this site so much my wife wanted to stay here for ever. We will visit this site again in the near future. Thank you to the site owners for a lovely site and stay.

Possibly the best certified site we have stayed on. The setting is lovely. The access to the wildlife centre is brilliant for young children. The owners are friendly and helpful. The pitches are level. The site is clean, tidy and well arranged. The beaches of south Devon from Paignton to Dawlish are within easy reach, and Newton Abbot has a very good shopping centre. Reaching the site is easy with dual carriageway to the outskirts of Newton Abbot and good signage first to Totnes then to Prickly Ball Farm. There is only one pitch suitable for trailer tents (i.e vehicular access and grass pitch) but there are more if you can use a hard-standing (cinder/gravel). The four purely tent pitches don't have vehicular access but the car park has reserved places close to the pitches with just a short uphill path to them.

This camp site is a hidden gem! The owners and staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The site is located on a hillside with amazing views and is very easy to find there are sign posts from Newton Abbott, or you can watch the video clips on their web site or like us use your sat nav which took us to the entrance gate. Some lanes are narrow but easy enough to tow a caravan and plenty of passing spaces! The entrance to the site is on a steep hill but the pitch views are worth the climb and the owners will help you pitch your van if you have any problems. The toilets and shower are clean and you can have a red hot 6 minute shower for 40p. Free wifi is a plus if you have teenagers. Talking of teenagers my 15 and 13 year olds boys loved the farm I could not believe that they were completely entertained by all the animals! Especially Alfie the little goat who was always escaping and the donkeys Darwin, Treacle and Bailey. The hedgehog hospital is incredible; a lot of care goes into looking after the hedgehogs (which are brought in from all over Devon) and nursing them back to health. We also enjoyed the café with the very friendly service and the freshly cooked food from Fish and Chip Friday to our baguettes for our journey home! All in all an amazing place to stay!

Owners Ian and Juliet have only recently taken over Prickly Ball Farm and have great plans for improvements; not least building a new access road to make the steep tow onto the site easier and also a new toilet block. These two projects will address the only two areas of concern and will make this one of the best holiday experiences for Camping and Caravan Club members. We took our 6 year old granddaughter for a week's stay and she didn't want to leave - and nor did we! Special mention must go to all the staff who were so welcoming and friendly, free access to the Wildlife Centre, kids play park, superb Devon cream tea and fish and chip supper - a fantastic holiday experience. I can highly recommend this site.
