    Imagine the ideal family seaside holiday and you probably have something similar to our Slapton Sands Club Site in mind. In the heart of the South Devon Heritage Coast, this tree-lined site is surrounded by gorgeous green countryside, and some pitches enjoy views over the stunning bay.

     

    A jewel in the bay

    With generally level grass and hardstanding pitches, this site is welcoming to all unit types – however, it is restricted to only eight caravans at a time due to the narrow roads on approach. Walkers will rejoice at the huge range of trails leading out from the site, while the bay at Slapton is also ideal for walking. It’s the perfect place to try your hand at surfing, canoeing or windsurfing.

     

    Move over, Mediterranean

    On a sunny day in the height of summer, this stretch of coastline feels more like the Mediterranean than England thanks to the abundant flora and fauna as well as the sparkling seas. Access larger towns such as Plymouth, Kingsbridge, and Dartmouth via the bus stop just a quarter of a mile from the site. The Start Bay Inn at Torcross Beach is a fan favourite for hungry campers serving catch-of-the-day seafood and local ales.

    Pitch Types Explained


    		 These are grass pitches with no electric hook-up or other services, suitable for a standard sized tent, caravan or motorhome.


    		These are grass pitches with electric hook-up, suitable for a standard sized tent, caravan or motorhome.


    		These are hardstanding pitches with electric hook-up, suitable for a standard sized tent, caravan or motorhome.


    		These are jumbo grass pitches with no electric hook-up, suitable for units measuring more than 5m x 9m.


    		These are jumbo grass pitches with electric hook-up, suitable for units measuring more than 5m x 9m.

     

    Worth Noting

    • A maximum of eight caravans are allowed on site for members only.
    • Only club member caravans permitted. 
    • Campers must not follow their sat nav.  Slapton village is very narrow, and it is not advisable to come through the village.
    • Slapton Sands Beach is dog friendly year-round.
    • The majority of grass pitches are sloping, so levelling ramps and chocks will be required.
    • 25m electric hook up cables are required for the majority of pitches.

     

    WiFi

    100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available.

     

    Eat Local

    Farmers' markets are held weekly, Stokeley's Farm is nearby provides essentials and local produce. The Queen's Arms and The Tower Inn are both a 5 minute walk from site and serve excellent food and real ales.

    Local area

    Slapton Ley

    Separated from the sea by a narrow shingle bar, Slapton Ley is the largest lake in the South-West. In 1993, the bay was designated as a National Nature Reserve and is home to a diverse collection of wildflowers and animals including badgers, otters and dormice.

    Dartmouth Castle

    For over 600 years, this castle has guarded the port-town of Dartmouth and the nearby entrance to the Dart Estuary. Climb to the top of the battlement for stunning views of the bustling town below.

    Bayard's Cove Fort

    Built in the 16th Century, Bayard’s Cove Fort is a Tudor fortress located beside the entrance to Dartmouth Harbour. The fort was built as a last line of defence against enemy ships that had evaded the castle.

    South Devon AONB

    The South Devon AONB covers 60 miles of glorious coastline, estuaries and countryside between Plymouth and Torbay. Take some time to explore hidden coves, rugged cliffs and rolling hills of this beautiful part of Devon.
