Our lovely Club Site on the south Devon coast.

The South Hams offers a wonderful mix of coast, moorland and rolling hills and a range of activities to match from walking and cycling to sailing and surfing. For history lovers there are delights such as Totnes Castle and The South Devon Railway, while a range of arts and food festivals and sailing regattas will keep culture-vultures happy.

Where better to base yourself to enjoy these delights than at our lovely Dartmouth Club campsite. Aptly named as the attractive harbour town is just a five minute drive away, the site offer campers stunning sea views over Start Bay. Spacious pitches, a large camping field, family shower room and a children’s play area are among the facilities on offer.

There are beaches aplenty - Blackpool Sands is within walking distance – Slapton Sands, Torcross, Beesand Beach and Hall Sands are a short drive away.

Also easily accessed are Totnes, Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. At the latter cross the River Dart to the pretty village of Kingswear and hop on board the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway for a ride along the Torbay coast. While on this side of the river, Greenway is a magical place to explore. Once the holiday home of Agatha Christie it is now managed by the National Trust.

We stayed in September having waited until the children went back to school, site was full however (as were most of the other sites nearby), mostly with older people. The first field as you go in where the hard standing is, was quite breezy, we were in the second field which was a lot less windy and nicer for sitting out. despite being full, it was peaceful, no queueing for showers. we didn't use our car all week, we just used the buses and got a jubilee pass from a kiosk in Dartmouth, which we used on various bus, boat and train trips, we more than covered the cost of the ticket. The buses do finish early and taxis in Dartmouth are like hen's teeth, so don't get caught out! we visited Brixham, Paignton, Totnes, Kingsbridge, Salcombe all within easy reach. The Boat trip to Totnes was particularly lovely. If you decide to walk along the coastal path into Dartmouth, it may only be a couple of miles but it takes 2 hours! Pub in Stoke Fleming less than half a mile away. Also a park before the pub where dogs can be exercised, I think the pub welcomes dogs too. We decided at the last moment to leave our bikes behind and were glad we did. Roads are narrow with little room for cyclists and the hills are HUGE! we did witness one lady's return, cursing! Lots of other places to visit not too far from site. Fave pub in Dartmouth: The Dolphin in Market street.

Excellent walks in area.

Excellent walks in area. Campsite to Dartmouth Castle very pretty, as was walk to lighthouse on Start headland. Buses to Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Salcome easy to use from just outside campsite, although do stop about 6 in evening. Recommend Angel restaurant in Dartmouth for a meal.
