    Top site for beaches

Our lovely Club Site on the south Devon coast.

The South Hams offers a wonderful mix of coast, moorland and rolling hills and a range of activities to match from walking and cycling to sailing and surfing. For history lovers there are delights such as Totnes Castle and The South Devon Railway, while a range of arts and food festivals and sailing regattas will keep culture-vultures happy.

Where better to base yourself to enjoy these delights than at our lovely Dartmouth Club campsite. Aptly named as the attractive harbour town is just a five minute drive away, the site offer campers stunning sea views over Start Bay. Spacious pitches, a large camping field and family shower room are among the facilities on offer.

There are beaches aplenty - Blackpool Sands is within walking distance – Slapton Sands, Torcross, Beesand Beach and Hall Sands are a short drive away.

Also easily accessed are Totnes, Salcombe, Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. At the latter cross the River Dart to the pretty village of Kingswear and hop on board the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway for a ride along the Torbay coast. While on this side of the river, Greenway is a magical place to explore. Once the holiday home of Agatha Christie it is now managed by the National Trust.

If you'd like to go glamping then Dartmouth Ready Camp is the perfect choice. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We did the round robin on the local steam train was a great day out, we parked in Dartmouth P & R, 5.00 per car per day, even with more than one person (this is the only way to park all day without penalty. Crossed to Kingswear, then boarded steam train to Paignton, tour bus to Totnes, then a lovel 1.5 hr boat trip to Dartmouth. For eating we enjoyed the dog friendly boathouse in Torcross, excellent service with very nice varied menu to suit all types.

Bus into Dartmouth centre takes about 10 mins.

This review is for Dartmouth

Bus into Dartmouth centre takes about 10 mins. Blackpool sands beach is easily reached by foot providing you have good legs. Torcross and the bird reserve are easily reached by bus and there is good parking there if using the car. Dartmouth has some lovely river trips available and the steam train to Paignton is a good day out easily reached again with public transport. Car parking in Dartmouth can be very difficult. Local swimming pool a short car ride away or the bus stops outside. Good pub in the village- easily walked to. There is a closed down pub at the campsite entrance and also a closed down petrol station. A local told me flats/apartments were going to be built there. So some daytime noise in the future. On Saturday evening when we were there, there was a local function and the disco music went on until 1am. Rather loud and if you are a lighter sleeper then impossible to sleep. How often this happens is anyone's guess. Were we unlucky? Nevertheless we had a lovely week and the staff were lovely.
