Plenty of scenic walks, from an evening stroll to long-distance hiking.

This review is for Wyming Brook Farm

Plenty of scenic walks, from an evening stroll to long-distance hiking. Well into the country, yet handy for Sheffield (congested!) and two good sets of local shops. Access by A57 from Sheffield then Sandygate Road & Redmires Road is easy, but beware of trying short cuts when towing - many are steep with hairpin bends etc. The route into the field is better signed than last year, and the access track is fully gravelled so should be 'all-weather' with care. We tried Ladybower Reservoir one August Monday but were disappointed that vehicular access to the Derwent Reservoir is restricted. Take or hire a bike, or be prepared to walk, if you want to see the Dambusters' training sites. A cheap and handy site for Derbyshire, Chatsworth House, etc. Friends took us to Hardwick House (National Trust & English Heritage, near Chesterfield). An excellent day out (if you like history and open spaces). Christ Church Fulwood (well known Evangelical C of E) is just down the road. Very 'low church' (nary a dog collar in sight!)

This site is perfect for self contained units as there are no toilet or shower facilities. This suits me because it would no doubt be overcrowded otherwise :-) This is a beautiful location and I will certainly be back again shortly. Two decent pubs within walking distance and lots of open countryside, paths and tracks to roam.

Used this site to visit Hallamshire Hospital, about 20 mins away. It is so peaceful that it is hard to believe Sheffield is so close. Had to use leveling blocks (4 inches one side) but we knew that before we set off. Cows rams and pigs in the surrounding fields which also have some lovely walks. Pub with food a mile away, with real ale a few hundred yards further. Satellite no problem, did not try terrestrial The entrance is through the gate on the left, NOT down the track with the stone walls. Have just booked again.

It is kept clean neat and tidy, the old farm buildings are going through the process of renovation so it will look much better when they are finished, it slopes very very gently so is not a problem however DO NOT use so called caravan friendly sat navs to get there, they route you up Lodge lane which has got to be avoided at all costs use Sandygate road, that said we will most definately use this site again
