We booked this site for a few days away at the end of the season during the late half term...

This review is for Ashbourne

We booked this site for a few days away at the end of the season during the late half term holiday. Unfortunately the period we were there coincided with wet and windy weather so we didn't see the site at its best - in particular the entrance to the dog walk was a virtual swamp so despite picking this site due to it being dog friendly, we never used the dog walk after the first attempt. Our pitch was hardstanding, but once the awning pegs had been hammered through the hard surface, they had little grip below this. Meanwhile the grass areas quickly got churned up and although the owner had a go at us for this I am sure he thought we were responsible for the mess left by the adjacent camper van. Shower block was clean and pleasant, despite very short shower cycles (lots of button pressing). We will probably be back for the area, as it really wasn't worth exploring the beautiful Dove Dale etc in the pouring rain, and I hope we will see the better aspects of the site, and the manager, next time.

Just back from 4 nights at this lovely little site.

This review is for Ashbourne

Just back from 4 nights at this lovely little site. We were welcomed by a friendly chap, who was really helpful and informative. He directed us to the pitch and assisted with positioning the caravan. This is the first time we've been away in our new caravan and we had booked a hardstanding and we were so glad of it! The grassy areas of the site were quite boggy and muddy with the recent rain, the hardstandings, however were well drained and dry. The toilets and shower block were clean and functional, showers were of the push button type and needed pushing every 15 or so seconds, which was annoying! The water was always nice and warm and the pressure wasn't bad. The children's play area would have been great had the weather been better, but unfortunately that area was also very muddy and wet. There is plenty to do in the local area, Matlock Bath & the Heights of Abraham are worth a visit. All in all we had a lovely few days, despite the weather and would return to this site again.

We stayed at this site in August, booked for a week and stayed nearly 2.

We stayed at this site in August, booked for a week and stayed nearly 2. Really friendly welcome. Our caravan mover wouldn't engage on arrival but no problem we were assisted onto our pitch. We stayed at Bank Holiday and although it was very busy the facilities were always clean with plenty of hot water soap etc. The dog walk was good and the conservation area made a relaxing walk. There were walks direct from the site and the site is very close to many Peak district attractions. Thank you for a pleasant stay we hope to return

“A friendly and peaceful site, the showers and toilets are spotless and Ashbourne is only a 5 min drive away. There is a dog walk and even though it is a short walk its a peaceful walk first thing in the morning listening to the many birds attracted to the site due to the conservation being carried out. We would definitely use this site again for a peaceful short break. One tip don't follow sat nav.”
