The surrounding area

Bakewell town is just five miles from the site – try the pudding (not tart) and then visit Haddon Hall and the National Trust’s Ilam Park and on to Dovedale, an iconic and spectacular gorge carved out by the river Dove.

While camping at Bakewell Club Site, take time to witness the ancient custom of Well Dressing – the decorating of wells and springs with pictures made from natural materials. The wells can be seen from May to September.

Outdoor pursuits in the area around the campsite are not in short supply. Climbing, caving, horse riding and, of course, walking and cycling, are all available. Coarse fishing only 1/4 mile from site.

Mawstone Lane is very narrow and only takes inconsiderate parking by a visitor to area to close road to caravans etc. Really needs a warning of this from the CC&C

I was on the non-electric electric field, and had my choice of where to put my caravan. Lovely views especially from near the top of the field. Glad I've got extra props for the steadies and hitch, gave me more options to choose my place. Site managers helpful and friendly when needed, also the members on long term places. Walking area, direct from site, also convenient for Chatsworth, Buxton and other local attractions. This is going into my list of must return to sites.

Beautiful scenery. Great location.

Beautiful scenery. Great location. Towing a caravan not for the faint hearted as have to tow on a narrow road with houses either side & cars parked too! We had an bad pitch which was on a hill side and a nightmare to get the caravan level. Make sure you take plenty of wooden chocs or ask for a flattish pitch!

Just returned from the site , this being our first ever trip put in our caravan and all i can say is dont miss the turning in the village and make sure you have someone to help! The access down the lane to the site is tight and defo an experience for my first time! The Site is the reward for the access issue, it is a lovely site, friendly and helpful manager!!! If this site had better access and facilities it would be great but such you can't have everything!
