Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.
Whilst the majority of Certificated Sites do permit children, please be aware that this site has chosen to be Adults Only.

Poplars Farm benefits from panoramic views over the rolling Derbyshire Dales from every pitch. We are close to Carsington Water and Derbyshire has something for every visitor, whether interested in history, walking, shopping, pubs and dining or just relaxing. In addition to the 5 hard standing pitches for caravans and motor homes, there is hard standing with ehu available for folding campers and trailer tents or members may prefer a grass pitch with or without ehu. There is a dog walking area appreciated by our furry friends around the ten acre site. The fields have numerous meadow flowers in Spring and there are pigs, chickens and ducks on the farm, as well as a wealth of wildlife. Beautiful sunsets on many evenings - enjoy them with a glass of wine or a pot of tea!

This is a quiet location even though it is situated just off a main road.

This is a quiet location even though it is situated just off a main road. The upside of this though is that it is easy to access and you are right on the edge of the countryside. The facilities were brilliant and it was a real bonus to be able to have a shower. It was a short walk into Hulland Ward and by going slightly further a safer road was available to walk on. We had 2 meals at the Black Horse which is both human and dog friendly with a good menu at reasonable prices. It also had the best ladies that I have seen in any pub! Additionally it's an added bonus that it's within walking distance. There is also a shop in the village and they very kindly put papers on the side for me. There are many attractions locally and although we didn't stop in Ashbourne it looked as though it was worth exploring and I noticed that there were car parks suitable for motor homes and campervans. The surrounding countryside is beautiful and worth exploring on foot or by bike. There are a few good bike trails around which we explored. All in all it was a good break and with hardstanding available it is somewhere that you can access in all weathers. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

Simply stunning Immaculately kept site, very friendly and helpful owners. We received a warm welcome and a guided tour of the site when we arrived. The services and facilities are second to none, very well thought out and nicely placed. Incredible views from any angle. I liked it so much I booked my next visit before I'd even left!

A first time CS visit for us and loved it! Clean, tidy, well cared for site with a friendly welcome. I don't think you could ask much more for the money. A lovely site with well kept shower, toilet and waste disposal (of all types) facilities. Sarah gave us a friendly welcome, showed us our pitch and pointed out the whereabouts of all the facilities etc. A leaflet was provided with all the important info, tourist info and wifi password. Good dog walking paths within the site, the road which passes near bye is a busy one so not great to walk along as no footpath, there is a dog friendly pub half a mile away, there is another pub further on but we did not use it so cannot comment on that one. My review point score is based on value for money over facilities provided.

A complete gem- friendly owners;well maintained pitches; great amenities; thoughtful touches and an amazing view made this site 5 star We camped here for a full week and were really impressed with it- the owners have made the facilities very camper friendly- a kitchen with hot water and touches like a washing up bowl and washing up liquid- and a kettle. They have even thought of a small electric tabletop oven and grill on which you can make toast. A table and chairs are provided in the kitchen along with a heater in case the weather is bad. There are two shower blocks - the one we used had a spotless self contained shower and toilet section and the shower was a triton- better than the one we have at home and as much hot water as you want. Again- little touches like plenty of hooks and a stool. They even provide lovely hand wash and a towel to dry your hands on at the sink. There are pots of flowers around the site. BBQs are allowed. There is also a substantial dog walking section. The pitches are beautifully cut grass and you can park right next to each pitch on hard standing. There is electric hook up which catered for all our electrical needs. The view is amazing and each pitch is facing out onto the view so there is a sense of privacy. We were given a choice of pitch and the owners took time to ensure that we knew about all of the amenities that were on offer. A leaflet is given to you when you arrive too- that was very useful. There is free wifi- which we have never experienced on a small ccc site before but was brilliant. Fresh eggs from the farm chickens were gifted to us on our arrival which was so generous. The day we were due to leave we had torrential rain and the owners were so kind- saying we didn't have to worry about a leaving time and that we could wait until it had stopped raining. The site is excellently placed for travelling around and the Hanging Gate pub down the road was great for food and the fact that it was busy every time we visited was testimony to that. A 5 star ccc site all round. Thanks to the owners for a lovely stay.
