Enjoy great views and easy access to Keswick and Derwentwater from this site.
Our lovely Troutbeck Club campsite is the perfect base for exploring the Lake District. Its idyllic location surrounded by countryside and with fantastic views of the fells is a walkers’ paradise.
Blencathra and Sharp Edge are easily accessed from the campsite. Less strenuous is the half hour walk to the White Horse pub in Scales. The Coast2Coast cycle way passes by the campsite. Another popular mountain bike route is the Old Coach Road which has splendid views of Blencathra and Skiddaw in parts.
After a day on the hill our campsite offers a peaceful place to relax and soak up the views. Pitches are spacious and toilet and shower facilities are top notch. And there’s a laundry and disabled room too. Children have a small play area and there is ample room to exercise your dog on site. The campsite shop sells local free-range eggs, meat and real ales.
Rookin House Farm Equestrian and Activity Centre in Troutbeck offers horse riding, archery, quad bikes and karting. Ullswater, south of the campsite has numerous sandy beaches. Sailing, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing are all possible here, and fishing for those with the appropriate rod licence.

The buses both to Keswick and Penrith are easily assessed, Keswick is deffently worth the trip pleanty of good shops and eating places, market on both Thursday and Saturday recommend trip to town market and have a few beers in the local pubs good food available all round. Park in booths car park and lark for two hours go round town go shopping and get a refund on your ticket.
Would not recommend Penrith most shops shops up for rent and a new shopping centre all shops for rent not a lot to see, sorry for being negative, many sites and towns in Cumbria worth a trip and look but I would avoid Penrith personally.

This was the first time we had used this site and we were really taken by it. The views all around were fabulous and it was well placed to pick up the road to go further into the Lake District. The wardens were friendly and helpful and worked hard to keep the site looking good. The toilet and shower facilities were excellent - clean and well maintained. The site was quite busy over the weekend we were there which gave it a great buzz. There were families, groups and couples so it suits everyone and many appeared to be regulars. Although there wasn't now a dedicated dog walk on site there was a decent walk along a quiet country lane with various footpaths signposted off if you wanted to venture further. Keswick was a short drive away for shopping with a couple of supermarkets, shops, pubs etc. We went down to Ullswater and walked around Martindale which was really stunning despite the rain that day, we also had a day down at Elterwater and in the Langdales. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and loved the site so will be going back

The site is overlooked by what I'm sure would be a stunning view, however for the majority of the week we were there, the mountains were shrouded in clouds/rain :( The facilities were always clean, and despite the weather the floors were never dirty. The showers are excellent++ very powerful with a constant flow of water ( so annoying when the showers keeps stopping). The site is in a beautiful area and within easy reach of all the various lakes etc. and access is easy. My only complaint (apart from the weather) is that the info leaflets are in the reception, so when this is closed the leaflets are inaccessible...why are they not outside in water resistant boxes as on lots of other sites?

“We had a lovely time for 2 weeks in the Self Catering 6 berth Caravan. Its a beautiful van with central heating. That was a good thing as the area was covered in snow when we came up from Cornwall for our Easter holidays. This our 5th visit to Troutbeck. We visited first with a tent as a couple. We now bring our 2 small children and other family members. We will book again for next year. We will need the Static caravan and our own tourer as each time we come more family want to join us.The site and the owners and staff are all Fab.”
