This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

Very close to the M6 but far enough away that traffic noise isn't an issue.
Close to Penrith, some pubs/restaurants fairly close by, 15 min from Ullswater.
Approach to the site is easy, but entrance is easy to miss if your not paying attention.
We weren't welcomed to the site and had to call to find out which pitch to use and again the day after to pay - we were told that there were envelopes for the money and a letterbox near the toilet, and to put it in there.
The site runs on a trust basis, but sometimes it's nice to actually meet the site owner, if only for some local advice.
Pitches are spacious and very well kept, as is the entire site. There's a large field that looks like it would be good for rallies.
A garden shed acts as a toilet with wash basin and is in a small area that also houses drinking water, elsan point and a waste water drain - again, everything was spotless.
The site has no lighting on it, which for me is a bonus, and is fairly peaceful (some Road noise and the odd train in the distance).
At 12 a night Inc EHU (no extras for dogs or awnings) it is very good value for the location and facilities.
We'd definitely use the site again and recommend it to anyone.

We stayed on 18th Sep, on the way to Scotland. We had just hired our first motorhome, and Craig was very encouring and gave us lots of useful advice about good places to visit, and motorhomes in general. We stayed again on the last night of our holiday, on 26th September.
The site itself is in a lovely location, with the impressive sight of Cross Fell (at 893m, the highest point in England outside of the Lake District) nearby to the east, and you can see across to Blencathra and the Lake District to the west - the sunset on the 2nd night was brilliant.
On our 2nd night, Craig kindly advised about the location of the nearest fish and chip shop (The Little Chippy!).
My daughter and I went for a lovely bike ride to the nearby village of Cliburn on the 2nd evening at dusk and the views were wonderful.
The site itself is very clean, the toilet is immaculate, and there is a grid to dispose of gray water. You can also dispose of chemical waste at the site.
We had dark skies on the 2nd night, and could clearly see the Milky Way, which was an amazing sight if, like us, you have a lot of light pollution where you live.
The site is only a few miles from Junction 40 of the M6, and is easy to find and drive into.
We liked the fact it was nice and small, and that the facilities were so clean, and that Craig was a very knowledgeable, interested, and interesting owner!
Thanks, we'll go again hopefully.

Small site ideally located for access to the northern lakes and Penrith and as a stopover if travelling on M6.
Owners very friendly and helpful and fellow motorhomers so they know what is required on a CL site.
Only limited facilities on site, water, EHU and a toilet, more than adequate as most caravans and motorhomes have on board showers etc. i travel with a dog and the site is perfect with lots of dog walks leading from the site. Shopping is available in Penrith, 5 minutes away and there is local pubs for eating out. I rarely use CL sites but if Crossfells is anything to go buy i will in the future.
