This is a Certificated Site (CS). A small campsite that accepts just five caravans or motorhomes. Some of these CS’s accept tents, space permitting. CSs are often quieter, smaller places to camp, with many offering minimal facilities – ideal for when you want to get away from it all.

What a gem! this is a new site just outside Penrith set in beautiful countryside. The site is far enough out of town to be quiet and rural yet close enough to explore if that's what you want. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with loads of great walks. Crossfells Campsite does exactly what it says on the wrapper, it's only a small certified site but certainly doesn't feel small. There are five hardstanding pitches which are a good size, all with electric hook-up and a great sized grass area for tenting too. We had a serious issue with our motorhome and Craig the site owner did an awesome job helping us resolve it. We will most definitely be going back to Crossfells and hope that many of you do the same, whether you are heading north or south and need a stop off (5 mins off j44 M6), or want somewhere different to stay this is the place

We spent two nights here during the spell of warm weather in July. We had a warm and friendly welcome to the site which had only been open a short time.
The facilities are good and it now has a toilet installed to add to the freshwater, grey water disposal and chemical disposal, and a useful map/information point.
The site is easily found and accessed, although a friend did drive past it! Great views over the countryside and lots of walks in the surrounding area.
Ideally placed for exploring Penrith.
All in all, a very good CS..

My children and I stayed one night (saturday), I think we were one of the first members to use it(got a free bottle of wine!). We found it no problem with the post code typed into sat nav on our phone. Very friendly people greeted us and directed us to the pitches which are well away from the road (no noise). Pitches are all level, with hard and soft, no toilets or showers, but hook up, disposal areas and fresh water plentiful.
No childrens play area, although a big field for games (sloping) in front of pitches, it rained most of the time we were there unfortunately, so we had a drive into penrith which is only a 5-10 minutes. 2 pubs in reasonable walking distance (we had sunday lunch in the Beehive which was good). Overall a very friendly, quiet, site close to penrith town centre but far away enough to be bang in the countryside. A little gem.
