If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations.

The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond. Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking. For a small fee you can launch directly from the Sites shoreline.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.

For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness.

Worth Noting

Due to the possibility of Site flooding all units must have a tow vehicle on site overnight. There may be restrictions on pitch availability and use of awnings. If you have more than one car or are visiting the site you may be asked to park off-site.

WiFi

100% coverage cannot be guaranteed due to rural location, weather conditions and changing flora. These can cause variable signal strength. Hotspots are available.

Eat Local

There is a farmers' market in Keswick on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Wayne welcomed us to the site and pointed out where the facilities are. Check in was quick nd simple then he took us to our pitch. The views were splendid. Just a short walk into Keswick and all this lovely town has to offer. Toilets and showers were clean and warm. Will definitely use this site again.

Site is very well placed for visiting keswick Town which is only a five minute walk. Plenty of outdoor activities within walking distance and of course surrounded by beautiful mountains for a walking challenge. The site itself has excellent facilities, even a Backpackers kitchen. Plenty of showers (11) in the block which was open, so closing the other block during winter causes no issues. There is plenty of space between pitches making for a peacefull and open feel to match the stunning views. The hard standings use a smooth fairly small chipping grade so getting rock pegs in for an awning etc presents no reall problem (a 2lb lump hammer rather than rubber mallet works best). Great access to the Lake for water users. The staff are wonderful and really get your holiday off to a great start. Always on hand but not so it effects the feeling of complete freedom. I cannot wait to return.

All the staff are very welcoming, friendly and work hard to maintain the high standards of the site and its facilities. We have stayed there 3 times in the last 12 months and look forward to our next visit.

This place is like a different world.

This review is for Keswick

This place is like a different world. You drive through the busy village of Keswick then arrive in the country next to a wonderful lake. The contrast is marvellous. The site itself is wonderful, but as a motorhome driver would expect another service area.Did not use the facilities much as when we inspected them they were not upto clubs standards regarding cleanliness. The staff are pleasant enough but we were reprimanded for stopping for 30 seconds on our way out.Wonderful views, wonderful site.
