A beautiful location, Keswick campsite is great for active campers.

If you’re planning to explore the northern Lakes, our Keswick Club campsite on the shores of Derwentwater is hard to beat as a base for your explorations. The site boasts a prime location in the north of the Lake District with stunning views extending over the lake to the hills beyond.

Keswick is an organised campsite with good facilities – showers, toilets, washing up area, a laundry and a new backpacker room, particularly useful for those arriving on foot or by bike. Keswick town is within walking distance and ticks all the boxes for provisions, outdoor gear, eating and drinking.

Whether you’re a stroller, a rambler, a high-level walker or prefer to see the sights on two wheels, you can take your pick from numerous lake- and hillside tracks and trails easily accessible from Keswick campsite. Skiddaw is also easily reached from site. And, with Derwentwater so close at hand there’s no shortage of water-based activities to dip into. This stretch of water is popular for canoeing and kayaking.

Fishing can be enjoyed on the lake too. Try the eastern shore or hire a boat from one of the marinas and head to the centre of the lake to catch pike, bream and trout.

For a less energetic way to enjoy the water and the views board one of the motor launches which operate around the lake and offer several drop off points.

At the southern end of Derwentwater is the beautiful valley of Borrowdale where you’ll find the Neolithic Castlerigg Stone Circle and the medieval and much photographed pack horse bridge at Ashness.

Worth Noting

Due to the possibility of Site flooding all units must have a tow vehicle on site overnight. There may be restrictions on pitch availability and use of awnings. If you have more than one car or are visiting the site you may be asked to park off-site.

WiFi

This popular site was not surprisingly quite full even for a cool November.

This popular site was not surprisingly quite full even for a cool November. We had an excellent pitch overlooking the lake which was as enigmatic as usual. The upper toilet block has been updated since we were last here and is really good. The lower toilet block is in the process of being renovated but their is minimal disruption. We have already booked for 2015 at Keswick & look forward to our next stay.

We have stayed on this lovely site a few times now , we have always found the staff very friendly & helpful , the facilities have always been immaculate , we like the site because it is near town & also the bus station so no problems for going off exploring , the site is also well located for walking as many walks go from Keswick town centre , the site is very quiet on a night time so no problems for a good nights sleep , we would recommend this site to all age groups .

This site has to be one of my favourites.

This review is for Keswick

This site has to be one of my favourites. It has it all, Beauty, Peace, Tranquillity coupled together with the closeness of the town makes it a great site at any time of the year. 10 mins walk to Booths supermarket and two minutes further to the town itself. full of interesting shops, bars & restaurants Go each November to celebrate my Birthday, as I think its that special. However if there is a negative its let down by some members of the warden team. Each year the online booking asks for any special requests which I understand they try to fullfill however every year my requests are denied so getting fed up asking. But the one issue I had this time, we visited as a two van set, my disabled parents in one ourselves in the other, One toilet block was out of use due to building work (which we where not notified of before arrival) My disabled father had to Drive to the other which he didn't mind doing. Outside is a slope where the wardens had parked tractors, my dad parked as close as he could not causing an obstruction & walked to the toilet. The warden came in shouting who's car is parked outside. waited until he was finished then walked him back to his car reprimanding him all the way in front of other campers for parking. There where no signs saying he couldn't park where he did, No disabled parking area nearby and the wardens had their tractors in the only other spot. leaving my father rather upset, embarrassed & hurt that he thought he had done wrong. This ruined what could of been a great weekend break. This perhaps is not the right place to voice this matter but the wardens and their actions do have an impact on the quality and feel of enjoyment you receive, and on this occasion let the site & the club down, in my opinion. Cant praise the site position & beauty enough but objectively its the whole package that matters, hence the review.

We have just spent our second stay at this lovely and friendly site. It is ideally situated for the town and bus station to go exploring the area, or for doing any of the many walks this area has to offer. It is situated right on Derwent water and the scenery around is breathtaking.
