Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Plenty of attractions within a 20 mile radius.

This review is for Windermere

Plenty of attractions within a 20 mile radius. Some were a little further afield but that was our choice. The mountain goat tour to hadrians wall was worth the price. This was our first visit and we did a lot of exploring. Would go back and spend more time by each of the lakes or walking by and around them. Food choices in whistling pig the onsite pub were just right for us and we appreciated the fact that the pub area was reserved for adults as we hadn't brought children with us. Lovely to have the adjoining recreation room/family room for those who were holidaying with children or who fancied a game of pool or some TV time

We've just stayed on this site and had a lovely break.

This review is for Windermere

We've just stayed on this site and had a lovely break. The welcome was excellent and we were escorted to our pitch where all the sites facilities were explained to us. The reception has a good stock of necessities and we were able to purchase (for a donation to the flower fund) a pamphlet that explained two walks into nearby Staveley. We did the short walk (1.5 miles) there and the long walk (3.5 miles) back and the return leg was particularly enjoyable as it follows the river Kent for a good stretch. The facilities on site were spotless and excellent, some of the best we've experienced. We had a couple of drinks and a meal in the Pig and Whistle pub and found the service and fayre excellent, and also met some lovely fellow members from Northumberland with whom we discussed novice motorhome matters! We would definitely stay here again, It's a top site.
