Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. We stayed 2 nights, we couldn't have received a warmer welcome, we followed a member of staff (on his bike) who gave us a choice of pitches that were near toilet block, near to the park and had the best TV reception, very helpful! There is a brand new park and lots of space for children to explore. Didn't try the pub but walked out of site and across fields to Stavely with the kids, this took 40mins, a lovely, easy walk. Brilliant park in Stavely, Wilfs cafe and a well known starting point for mountain bikers. Kendal town centre 5 mins by car, Windermere 15mins. Brockhole is fabulous for children and has stunning lakeside views. Great site, would definitely recommend for those wanting to explore Kendal and the Lakes.

We have been caravanning for 15 yrs and this was our first time at this site, we found the staff wonderful and friendly, the site was clean, and despite what someone says about the showers, they were always warm and clean, and the water was just the correct temperature as you showered, you had to press the button every so often to make the shower work, but Hey its no hardship to press a button 1foot away from you. it was one of the very few holidays where at the end, you don't want to go home, at night there is no noise, at all and is very quiet. we are so taken with this site we are going back for 2 weeks in June and it cant come fast enough, the shop is well stocked for basics, and if you want shopping you are in the middle of Kendal and Windermere. Wonderful Site and Staff.....Thank you. John & Karen
