I am disabled and have ME and this is the first year since 2010 that I have been well enough to attempt camping again. I need to use a wheelchair to make my daily energy last. I have camped all over Europe and England pre ME, and decided to join the 'friendly' C &CC club as I thought it would help me in a friendly atmosphere! For starters, they did allow me to pitch my air tent as close to the toilet block as possible. But that's when the friendliness and helpfulness ended. My son came to stay with me, but was not allowed to bring his car on site, even though there were 3 empty car parking spaces next to the tent all week! I had to keep driving down to his car in the very full guest car park, to bring his camping gear to the tent. I have an assistance dog, and an old retired assistance dog to help me with anxiety and panic attacks. To exercise my younger assistance dog (on a lead, next to the tent, under supervision) we bought him a football. He was playing football with my son, no-where near any other tents. My son went to the toilet block, and while he was gone, a warden actually told me to shorten his lead as he was not allowed anywhere near the other tents! A) he wasn't near any other tents but ours B) sexists, he didn't say it in front of my son. Who was furious, as it set off my anxiety and panic attacks and all I wanted to do was go home where it was safe! I'd expended too much energy that day, so had to wait for the next day! When I had already started to crash due to my stress. I left a day early and will never go back. My dogs are better behaved than the children were on this site, yet they don't 'control' the children in the same way as they like to with dogs and their owners. I am regretting joining the C&CC if this is an example of their friendly sites.
