Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Site caters for tents caravans motor homes and they have safari tents also. Play area for children . There is a pub on site but can't review as I didn't use. Small shop and you can freeze your ice blocks there. Staff are very friendly always busy keeping site clean and tidy. Let me borrow vac for my vac bags ! Lovely site will be going again

Was a much bigger site than we were expecting but we weren't disappointed.

Was a much bigger site than we were expecting but we weren't disappointed. Very clean and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was a chore for them. It would be nice if there was a play area for the kids, however, we spent our days on trips so did manage perfectly fine! The restaurant is a little pub room with a pool table and selection of books and toys for the little ones. The food was really nice, great portions and not expensive. There's an on site bar which is a child free area. Plenty of toilets & shower blocks. Also had laundry rooms. Good sized pitches (gravel) and well spaced. About 10-15 mins either side of kendal & bones, which gives you great access to the lake and all the activities around it! All in all a great site! Would recommend

My friend and I arrived on Friday on our motorbikes in heavy rain. We received a very warm welcome. Saturday weather was appalling. Although we had a tarp as shelter we were really glad there was a "backpacker's hut" for those campers travelling light. We had with us a simple single gas cooker just for tea and coffee. We had decided to eat breakfast in the pub which we did Saturday but on Sunday breakfast wasn't served due to "staff sickness". These things happen. One small negative was the fact that Reception don't provide ice packs (although they will freeze your own). I've never known this at a Club Site before. Those campers without electricity really need to be able to swop packs for obvious reasons. Food and drink in the pub was great by the way. All in all an excellent stay!

Could do with recycle bins being in normal bin area instead of all over by reception.
