Water-based fun, walking and the attractions of the Lakes are accessible from this site.

Our family-friendly Windermere Club campsite is betwixt popular Bowness-on-Windermere and the bustling market town of Kendal. Its location makes it ideal for exploring both towns and the varied attractions of the southern Lake District.

Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Booked this site for a 3 nights stay , however only managed 2 . Disappointed that given the knowledge of the site the managers have, they assigned us a hardstanding pitch that when it rained overnight and into next day ,we had 2 rivers of water running from the road down both sides and into our pitch causing us to be in a 2" deep water logged pool , so had no choice but to pack up and leave. The other side of the road with caravans on we're dry .However was no disappointed with the site has facilities were good and well looked after and clean. Would stay again but please knowing we had a trailer tent put it on the right pitch not 1 more suited for a caravan .

We were unable to have our favourite pitch as the Club Site Committee were booked on to the site and had bagged all the best pitches. Other than that our stay was as always great. Staveley is close by and you can walk there in about 20 minutes but you have to careful as you have to cross the A591 which is always busy. The food in The Eagle and Child is good and they have some nice beers on, they have a nice outside seating area overlooking the river. There is another pub in the village called The Duke William but we have never been in it so can't comment on it. Further down the 591 is the tiny village of Ings where there is a great pub called The Watermill Inn which has its own micro brewery and excellent food child and dog friendly. Further afield you have all the delights of The Lake District to explore either on foot, loads of footpaths accessible from the site, by bicycle road or mountain bike, by bus main bus route within walking distance on the A591 or by car if your feeling lazy or of limited mobility.
