Water-based fun, walking and the attractions of the Lakes are accessible from this site.

Our family-friendly Windermere Club campsite is betwixt popular Bowness-on-Windermere and the bustling market town of Kendal. Its location makes it ideal for exploring both towns and the varied attractions of the southern Lake District.

Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Fell Foot Park at the southern tip of the lake is perfect for picnics or a swim in the lake.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Camping Pods are also available at this campsite.

An admirable site, devoid of traffic noise, with flat level pitches and well kept facilities.

This review is for Windermere

An admirable site, devoid of traffic noise, with flat level pitches and well kept facilities. The roads are a mix of clearly marked one-way and narrow roads but to children with cycles, the one-way system seemed not to apply. Some sites suffer from trees but Windermere is enhanced by them;(two nearby major sites have pitches resembling ploughed hills). The nearest pub is on site but there are a further two, soon to be three at nearby Staveley which also has facilities for cycle hire, a craft bakery, chemist, grocers, coffee, chip shop and a brewery etc. There are three main ways to get there on foot, each short and pleasant but only one avoids the need to cross the busy road from which you turned to reach the site. It is also possible to enjoy a longer more pleasant walk, part of the Dales Way to Bowness. Nearby Kendal offers major supermarkets, chain stores and take-away facilities.

One improvement for the future would be to increase the food range in the shop to include more local meat/fish produce, even if it was frozen. Alternatively, a delivery van would be good.

This is my second visit to this site.

This review is for Windermere

This is my second visit to this site. Again a very friendly and helpful welcome by all the staff. They couldn't do any more for you. The grounds are spotless as well the toilet facilities and showers and overall a brilliant site. It is a large side was plenty of space for everybody. There is an easy walk to the village of Staveley. Only the Eagle and child pub is open at present as the other one is being renovated. It has excellent beers and a good menu and a beer garden. The site is handy for easy access to the lakes. It is a very peaceful and quiet site and full of wildlife including rabbits and birds.
