Water-based fun, walking and the attractions of the Lakes are accessible from this site.

Our family-friendly Windermere Club campsite is betwixt popular Bowness-on-Windermere and the bustling market town of Kendal. Its location makes it ideal for exploring both towns and the varied attractions of the southern Lake District.

Sit back and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this campsite, the plentiful wildlife and the wonderful views. Windermere is not only spacious, it’s well laid out and boasts many environmentally-friendly facilities. There is a separate tent camping area, backpacker facility, a family camping area, children’s play area and a 4* rated pub restaurant The Whistling Pig.

There are many walks from the campsite. Across the fields is the village of Staveley as well as a shop, supermarket and a couple of pubs the Hawkshead Brewery is here too. There are more walks to enjoy from the village including Potters Fell and Reston Scar.

Bowness-on-Windermere offers plenty of water-based activities including cruises, canoeing and wind surfing and attractions including The World of Beatrix Potter and Aquarium of the Lakes. Take the chain ferry to the western side of the lake and visit the pretty village of Hawkshead and Claife Heights, National Trust woodland great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. We stayed on this site on our way to Scotland and receive an excellent greeting from the site staff who were all very friendly, however we were disappointed to find no phone signal which forced us to try the site wifi which did not work properly and we wasted our 4.00 (two attempts). other things that were annoying were no tap adaptors on the taps at the camper service pitch which was not marked on the map provided. also difficulty in using the tilt grey waste lid (not the usual lift off lid) which you had to tilt and the reverse over. We enjoyed the catering facility which was very convenient but thought one poppadum was a bit mean. Overall a good site with a good location but needing a few niggles sorted out. Recommended for a quiet break with lovely outlook, but not recommended if phone/email is important to you.

There are walks from the site. There is easy to access moderate and harder walks. The site is between Kendal and Windermere if you want to shop or eat out. There are micro breweries not far away that offer an excellent variety of beers and or food. Provided you bring a choice of clothing you should have a great time. We always do each time we stay at this site and we will continue to return. The site is also convenient for our children to either stay or visit as it is just a few miles from the M6. Therefore if you want to tour the site is I feel in a good position for this. Only problem is the access road off the A591 as it comes just at the end of a dual carriageway and this road is in need of repair but it does mean the site is secluded. Although we do not use it much there is pub on site that serves the local beers and provides meals and breakfasts on Saturdays and Sundays, ideal for campers. The staff are helpful and friendly and keep the site in great order.
