    Site within National Park

Pitch up here at this lovely hillside campsite at the gateway to the southern Lake District.

Our Kendal Club campsite is ideally located for those who enjoy walking and cycling. The hills and peaks of the southern Lake District are on the doorstep while the Yorkshire Dales National Park is around a 30 minute drive away.

This beautiful campsite feels secluded yet is within walking distance of Kendal itself where you’ll find a selection of shops, a supermarket, two castles, the Abbot Hall Art Gallery as well as the award-winning Quaker Tapestry Exhibition.

The campsite enjoys lovely fell views, offers spacious pitches and has good range of facilities including a laundry, children’s play area as well as toilets and showers.

Windermere is around nine miles from Kendal campsite. Here you can board a steamer, launch a boat, windsurf or canoe. Back on land the World of Beatrix Potter at Bowness on Windermere offers the chance to meet Peter Rabbit and his friends. On the western shores the National Trust owned woodlands, Claife Heights, is great for walking, cycling and wildlife spotting.

Amblseside at the northern tip of the lake is the starting point for the challenging Wansfell, the Langdales and other mountain. You can also walk to Stock Ghyll Force from the centre of the town. Pretty Grasmere is worth a visit. Treat yourself to some of Sarah Nelson’s famous gingerbread. You’ll find the Grasmere Gingerbread shop tucked away in the corner of the churchyard.

Kendal is a great place to visit, and an ideal location to tour the Lake District.

This review is for Kendal

Kendal is a great place to visit, and an ideal location to tour the Lake District. Not a place to visit during the summer though. The site is quiet and a much better location than either of the Windermere sites, too commercialised for my liking. Lots to do and see, but bear in mind that a larger twin axle caravan needs to be booked well in advance due to the site being quite cosy. However this adds to its charm, and the wardens, Whom we had met previously in Scotland, were warm and friendly, and went out of their way to be helpful. Enjoyed our stay here. Attractions visited included the Motor Museum, Windermere, including a trip on the ferry, and a quite hairy trip over the Wrynose and Hardknott passes, something not for the fainthearted but the views are absolutely spectacular. Will look forward to a return visit.

A peaceful picturesque site within easy walking distance to shops. Facilities spotless. Proprietors helpful and friendly - very hardworking. The weather was perfect for the time we were there. Have booked again for May. For those seeking a relaxing break I would highly recommend this site.

Not a particularly small site, definitely not large and has its own hillock.

This review is for Kendal

Not a particularly small site, definitely not large and has its own hillock. Not being a flat site is an advantage for smaller units. The toilets & showers are spotlessly clean and perfectly serviceable. Some may say the ablutions are "dated" but they do a functional job. If the loos are grubby or don't work it is because someone has recently soiled or broken them! The site has easy access to many walking areas, Kentmere is 15-20 minutes, Howgills 30-45 minutes, Haweswater 40-50 minutes. The Gateway Inn is a seriously good pub just 10 minutes drive away. Morrisons is a well stocked supermarket just 5 minutes away. Bravo to the Management Team! Christine & Michael were chatty & helpful - and have a sense of humour...

Facilities were always clean however, closing from 10.

Facilities were always clean however, closing from 10.30-12pm was inconvenient at times, but it was clearly displayed so we knew about this. Great location, close to Kendal and Windermere with shops close by. We would happily visit here again and we had a lovely relaxing break.
