Ideal for tent campers and handy for Scafell Pike, Wastwater & Eskdale cycle trail.

Our Eskdale Club campsite is nestled in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District.

The area is a paradise for walkers and so Eskdale campsite is well equipped for tent campers, backpackers and cycle campers. Motorhomes are also welcome.

Modern heated facilities include a drying room, showers, washing machine and a well-stocked shop. The campsite also has ten camping pods and a camping barn sleeping up to eight if you fancy glamping or want to camp as a group.

Boot is within walking distance of the campsite with dog-friendly pubs and a station for the seven-mile Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, which passes through the Eskdale Valley. Scafell Pike is easily accessed from the campsite, but if that is a little too ambitious more gentle walks take in Stanley Ghyll Falls and Burnmoor Tarn.

For days out go to Muncaster Castle and the World Owl Centre or enjoy the amazing mountain scenery of the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass.

Fully equipped Camping Barn - £135 per night
Camping Pods - £43.75 per night

Well, what a lovely campsite! We just returned from 4 nights here and loved it.

Well, what a lovely campsite! We just returned from 4 nights here and loved it. In fact we tried to stay for longer. I will start with the cons as there aren't many! Hard knock pass was the worst road to ever come in on. Avoid it if you can, everyone we spoke to said the same. The wifi is poor the campsite charges a very reasonable price but it was pointless having it as it barely loads Facebook etc. The part of the site we stayed on was boggy, wasnt an issue as we all know the English weather isn't great and the owners were apologetic but there's nothing they could do! The last issue was dogs! Again not the sites fault but they were barking all day and all night long! Now the pros! Owners are fantastic inviting and friendly. The site is immaculate the team don't stop cleaning (ever). The site is picturesque and in the middle of rolling hills based on a stream. The showers are awesome! Warm and powerful all the time. Things to do are plentiful for a short stay but you have to be willing to drive. We climbed Scaffell Pike whilst there, this was hard work but rewarding took us about 6 hours up and down (we were extremely slow think most averages are about 4-5 hours) your about a half hour drive from the campsite to the start of the walk. The site shop is a good price for most things including meat and alcohol. Electric hook up was perfect compared to most campsites. No tripping out etc. The local 3-4 pubs are great I recommend king George for sheer portion sizes. We will return!

The campsite staff are very helpful and will freeze ice blocks and charge mobiles if necessary. All facilities very clean. We ate at the Brook House Inn twice in 4 evenings; very good food and lovely people. We spent a day on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway, including tea & scones in the Fellbites Caf. Also visited Muncaster Castle with excellent owl & falcon displays and walked along River Esk to Stanley Ghyll Waterfall. This was our first time staying in a pod; it was colder than I expected and got unpleasantly full of condensation by the morning. Overall, fabulous area and campsite!

“We have just stayed in the camping barn at Eskdale with two daughters and four grandchildren. It is a superb facility with virtually all the equipment you could want and plenty of electric points. The camp beds are good too. The site is lovely , and was quiet even though packed and full of families with children. The views are wonderful and the station for the steam train to the coast at Ravenglass is a ten minute walk away. The wardens at the site were extremely helpful and friendly, and the shop is very well stocked. The loo facilities seem new and are very clean. ”
