Ideal for tent campers and handy for Scafell Pike, Wastwater & Eskdale cycle trail.
Our Eskdale Club campsite is nestled in the beautiful Eskdale Valley in the Lake District.
The area is a paradise for walkers and so Eskdale campsite is well equipped for tent campers, backpackers and cycle campers. Motorhomes are also welcome.
Modern heated facilities include a drying room, showers, washing machine and a well-stocked shop. The campsite also has ten camping pods and a camping barn sleeping up to eight if you fancy glamping or want to camp as a group.
Please note this campsite does not allow caravans
Boot is within walking distance of the campsite with dog-friendly pubs and a station for the seven-mile Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, which passes through the Eskdale Valley. Scafell Pike is easily accessed from the campsite, but if that is a little too ambitious more gentle walks take in Stanley Ghyll Falls and Burnmoor Tarn.
For days out go to Muncaster Castle and the World Owl Centre or enjoy the amazing mountain scenery of the Hardknott and Wrynose Pass.

A lovely site in a beautiful setting - tranquillity itself. If you aren't a walker/cyclist or want a ride on Ratty this may not be the place for you but the wardens are friendly and very helpful, the on site shop sells quality products including meat and beer (what else is there) and the facilities are absolutely excellent. Lots of lovely walks and three excellent pubs serving good food within easy walking distance.

Three pubs in walking distance and one with sports sky so we could watch MotoGP. Quiet area and great views. Would return to this site. Take a torch if you go to the pubs on an evening, pitch black.

I stopped for 3 nights during the Whitsun Week when it was extremely busy and again at the end of September when it was quiet.
Both occasions the site staff were very welcoming and advised on the best place for me to pitch without dictating.
The facilities and shop are excellent, the location is a hidden gem with walks from short local flat walks to challenging walks to Sca Fell.
Local pubs are excellent and the Ratty Railway to Ravenglass is a short walk away from the site.
I do intend to go back as 2 x 3 day trips is just not long enough to see everything.

“We have just stayed in the camping barn at Eskdale with two daughters and four grandchildren. It is a superb facility with virtually all the equipment you could want and plenty of electric points. The camp beds are good too. The site is lovely , and was quiet even though packed and full of families with children. The views are wonderful and the station for the steam train to the coast at Ravenglass is a ten minute walk away. The wardens at the site were extremely helpful and friendly, and the shop is very well stocked. The loo facilities seem new and are very clean. ”
