Pitch on the shores of Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Our Braithwaite Fold Club campsite sits on the eastern shore of Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Our compact site has 66 level hardstanding with electric hook up pitches – and is well laid out. There are modern facilities including an undercover washing up area, laundry and disabled facilities. 3 grass pitches for tents only.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

We're sorry but this site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. Second vehicles will need to park in the pay and display next to the site.

Worth Noting

This site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. If you have more than one car or you are a visiting the camp site you will have to park your car in the pay and display next door to the site.

We arrived midday and the wardens were very helpful, friendly and even helped get our caravan onto the pitch. The site isn't big and pitches close together with cars parked in front of the units, but it didn't cause any problems and gave the site a friendly atmosphere. It is close to Bowness and can be walked very easily. It's also next to the Ferry to take you across Windermere. Have a day off from driving and take the mountain goat bus, well worth it. Going back to the site itself, the Wardens were always about and even making sure the shower block was clean and stocked up late in the evening. Very clean shower block, nice hot showers and generally immaculate everywhere. We would definitely return here and would highly recommend this first class site to anyone looking for somewhere central to stay.

Plenty of dog walking around the lake.

Plenty of dog walking around the lake. Many dog friendly pubs and cafe's, especially #4 halfway up the high street. Best coffee in town! Would definitely return to site at some time.

The facilities were fine but the camping area was littered with small and large pieces of glass. Reported this the first morning we were there and someone did go over but it was still unacceptable with many pieces of glass and pottery - I removed a bottle base the size of my hand: having children with us was not great. The other problem for campers was the depth of soil - very difficult to get a peg in more than a couple of cm - lucky it wasn't windy.
