Pitch on the shores of Lake Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Braithwaite Fold campsite sits on the eastern shore of Lake Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Our compact site has 66 level hardstanding with electric hook up pitches – and is well laid out. There are modern facilities including an undercover washing up area, laundry and disabled facilities. 3 grass pitches for tents only.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

Worth Noting

This site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. If you have more than one car or you are a visiting the camp site you will have to park your car in the pay and display next door to the site.

We had a great time in the Lake District and camping on the site.

This review is for Braithwaite Fold

We had a great time in the Lake District and camping on the site. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and helped us from the moment we arrived, they looked after and cared for members throughout. There is a lot to do in walking distance from the site. We spent time traveling around the whole of the Lakes and the caravan and camping site was a good base to stay at. Together we Climbed Scafell Pike (Biggest Mountain in England), Boated on Coniston Lake, Walked around Tarn Hows, Drove on Hard Knotts Pass, Went to Go Ape, Visited Hawkshead, Explored Rydal Water/Caves, Climbed Cat Bells, Visited Keswick! All in 4 days. Great holiday on the Lakes and great campsite!

We booked to stay for 4 nights and arrived on the Monday. We were greeted and shown to our pitch. The team were very helpful and offered to help us set up should we require it. The site was very well kept, clean and tidy. The site was very busy being half term but was nice and peaceful. The site team were very welcoming and very helpful, on more than one occasion we asked for assistance and the team went out of their way to help. We liked the site so much we ended up extending out stay to 6 nights!! We will most definitely return to this site.

This was our second christmas here,2014&16.

This was our second christmas here,2014&16. The weather has been awful both times, Storm Barbera & Conor back to back this time. If you come here expecting it to be wet and windy everything else is a bonus. All four wardens were lovely and welcoming. Dave and Mandy supplying Mince pies and mulled wine to all who braved the weather to walk to reception on Xmas eve. Most of the pubs in bowness allowed our little dog in and made a fuss of her. We will be back this year, thank you.
