Pitch on the shores of Windermere and explore the southern Lakes from this site.

Our Braithwaite Fold Club campsite sits on the eastern shore of Windermere in the heart of the beautiful Lake District and is a stone’s throw from the linked towns of Bowness and Windermere.

Our compact site has 66 level hardstanding with electric hook up pitches – and is well laid out. There are modern facilities including an undercover washing up area, laundry and disabled facilities. 3 grass pitches for tents only.

Pitch here and you won’t be short of things to do. For starters you can enjoy the many attractions of the lake right from the campsite. Enjoy a steam cruise or have a go at dinghy sailing, power boating or windsurfing. Meet Peter Rabbit and friends at the World of Beatrix Potter in Bowness on Windermere.

Catch the chain ferry to the western shore for the National Trust’s Claife Heights, ideal for walking and cycling, the pretty village of Hawkshead - home to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter once lived - and Grizedale Forest Park with its Go Ape high wire adventure area.

Fell Foot Park at the lake’s southern tip is perfect for picnics and paddling. Near here you’ll also find the Lakeside and Haverthwaite steam railway and the Lakes Aquarium.

We're sorry but this site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. Second vehicles will need to park in the pay and display next to the site.

Worth Noting

This site can only accommodate one car per pitch at all times. If you have more than one car or you are a visiting the camp site you will have to park your car in the pay and display next door to the site.

We arrived on a wet day, it was lovely to receive a warm and friendly welcome from Agnes and Harry the Holiday site managers. Harry showed us to our pitch and very kindly offered to help us erect our awning, which he did later when the rain stopped. My husband is disabled and suffers badly with arthritis, so Harry's help was very much appreciated. This is a lovely little site, a few minutes walk from the lake and town, where there are many resturants and cafes to enjoy. Thankfully the weather improved and we had a wonderful 2 weeks in this beautiful location. We will definitely be returning again next year!.

The site is clean and tidy but no facilities for children, we stayed here out of season so felt at home with all the other oldies. Nice walk into the town of Bowness, lots of places to eat and drink, but as other reviewers have said it can be a bit pricey. We didn't find any information leaflets in reception or anywhere else that is usually found on most CCC sites. We would like to have know where the nearest petrol station was but the reception staff had no idea, that surprised us. It is a very tight site and the pitches are very close together but overall the location wins over any negative points.

Lovely little site and very friendly staff, very clean and lovely lay out.,only a few minutes walk to the windermere lake in Bowness which was great, its a shame there is no park for children to play though and they seem to hang around the car park and toilet block as this is the only area they can ride their bikes and scooters ,Only downside to this site is you cannot get a tv reception ,some people could get BBC 1 channel and we could on occasions get ITV channel but it kept dropping out every few mins ,

Great location, 10 minutes stroll via Rectory Road pedestrian footpath to both the Lake and the town. Good points; site extremely clean, all facilities excellent and extremely clean. Bad points; poor reception/greeting on arrival, being "allocated" a pitch (not the usual "first come, pick a pitch" as with most C&CC sites) under over grown trees (with 1/2 day sunlight only (not negotiable). With no entry/exit barrier present constant traffic of "tourists" vehicles driving in and out all day for a "look" being unchallenged, and with nowhere for children to play so the small ones play on the site perimeter road, near the entrance and around the facility block and the older children are racing round all the site roads on bikes at very high speeds, all traffic on site seems to be well above 5mph, leaving me to witness several very near misses of children getting hit by various vehicles, frightening, an accident waiting to happen. Being a C&CC member booking in advance online through C&CC I had to book a minimum of 5 nights, which I didn't really want to do, being tied up to one site for so long, as we had traveled all the way up to the Lake District from Suffolk for 12 days only, but I witnessed at least a dozen EU plated non-member units turning up for 1, 2, 3, and 4 night stays only?
