I visited this site recently and wanted to leave some feedback for the site. The owners are very nice but the facilities are not up to a standard that is acceptable for the price charged. The book states ?5-?11 pounds per night but we were charged ?10.00 pppn plus ?5.00 pn for electricity. Only one portacabin with two showers and wash basin whilst clean not sufficient and no dishwashing facilities. Childrens playarea was two swings. The main issue is purely the pricing structure which is not consistent with the facilities expected from a site recommended by the club.

I visited this site recently and wanted to leave some feedback for the site. The site itself is very pleasant and has been under construction for several years, but is still basic in terms of facilities, there is a small play area for children which consists of two swings and a small toilet area, two loos and two showers situated in a porta cabin type structure. There was no plate washing up facilities. The site warden seemed a decent enough fella and was pleasant in our limited interactions. The main point I wish to raise is the pricing structure at this camp site. It is excessive to say the least. Sadly its the most expensive camp site Ive ever been to and it has the least facilities for that cost. I was charged 10 per adult (x2), 5 per child (x2) 5 electric and 3.50 for our small awning per night. A whopping 38.50 per night. There was also the option of a fire pit and logs were 6.50 a bag. As you can see that would have been quite some outlay per night. I cant see how they can justify charging such a high cost when the facilities are so basic. If there are more facilities, then fair enough but currently there are not. On the camping and caravan club site the charges are 5-11 Family and unit http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/campsites/uk/countydurham/bishopauckland/meadowfarm Other local sites that we have visited in the past are considerably cheaper and have vastly superior facilities Barnard Castle http://www.campingandcaravanningclub.co.uk/campsites/uk/countydurham/barnardcastle/barnardcastle Staindrop http://www.hetherickcaravanpark.co.uk/tourers---tent.html We paid for 2 nights but we just couldnt stay the another night as the whole pricing just left a sour taste in our mouths. A refund was requested and refused which is perfectly within the rights of the site. If more facilities are available to the campers you can justify the current pricing structure.

Stayed at this site for 2 nights earlier this month. Fantastic welcome from Will, the friendly and helpful owner. Loved the site attractive views and you wake up to sounds of the country. Roosters and during my stay a cuckoo and a curlew to name but two. Rural, but youve got the best of both worlds. Nearby Tindale Crescent has everything for your supplies plus McDonalds etc: perfect for the kids on a rainy day. If that is you can tear them away from Wills animals. Chickens, ducks and at present a horse and sheep with lambs. Handily located for numerous attractions. I chose nearby Durham City with its World Heritage Site cathedral and castle, but the North Pennines, Durham and Yorkshire coasts, North York Moors, Newcastle etc all within easy reach. How to choose? Be aware that at present, facilities are minimal (Its new this year). Will has plans for the future, but at present no onsite electricity, shower or toilet. So glad though that I didnt let that put me off. There is some hard standing and the drive on was easy. Thoroughly recommended.
