Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.
If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.
Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.
There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.
There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.
For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.
Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the
interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready

Excellent location in lovely countryside. A pleasant stroll through the woods takes you down to the River Tees and into Barnard Castle, over an old iron footbridge. Staff wonderfully welcoming and friendly and the pitches well-spaced, level. Sanitary block beautifully clean and spacious. A good playground area for children and mercifully, during our stay, no dogs.
Great access to the Pennine Way and the Tees valley with plenty of walking and footpaths readily available. Low and High Force waterfalls nearby and stunning.
Pub grub and restaurants in Barnard Castle, although tricky on a Sunday night - the Cricketer's Arms the only pub serving food, but it was good!

as was all of the site, we would give it 5*plus
there was plenty of places to visit Barnard castle, the town, Bowes museum,High Force waterfall ,Raby castle, Durham city and Cathedral , Beamish Museum , and railway museum's at shildon and Darlington, and surrounding country side was a site to behold
plenty to do and visit would certainly visit again. D+V Johnson.

Only criticism is that the Chemical Toilet Disposal Point is not very user friendly in that one has to lift the container to a great height to reach the emptying bowl. Stayed at the Club's Veryan Site in Cornwall where the CCDP was very easy to use and a little more user friendly. Thinking mainly of a lady having to lift a heavy waste disposal tank!! Apart from this, all other facilities were of the usual standard and we'll certainly be returning to enjoy the beauties of Teesdale and surrounding area.

This was our first visit to a CCC site since joining. A quiet site, well kept with facilities that are immaculately clean.
The wardens and assistants were able to offer advice on local walks, places to eat etc.
We did lots of walking directly from the site, and we're fortunate to have a very close encounter with a deer whilst walking through woods alongside the river.
I would highly recommend this site, we will definitely visit again.
Thank you to Simon, Keith, Karen and Paul for your hospitality. You did your Club proud.
