Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

Only two downsides.

This review is for Barnard Castle

Only two downsides. The road in front of the toilet block needs resurfacing as there are potholes in the road which caught out my grandson on his scooter and he ended up flat on his face in the puddles. Also as you have to be off site by 12 noon would it not be better to bring forward the cleaning of the toilet block to 10.15 till 11.45 thus leaving 15 minutes for the last minute trip to the loo.

We've stayed in a lot of campsites over the years but Barnard Castle has become my favourite. Beautiful location and so peaceful and relaxing. The site is lovingly looked after but the best part of it? The staff, there was nothing they wouldn't do to make our stay better. A special thank you to Kate for all her help and patience!! I can't wait to visit again. Thank you Barnard Castle!!!

We travelled the length of the East coast this week and picked a range of sites from the club book. This was the most expensive site and yet did not offer more. It was a clean, well maintained site. Staff were nice and helpful. But clearly set up for older club members. No plug point for hairdryer or straighteners...1980's on the wall drier could not blow out a candle. When we asked about high price, we were told it was because it was high session. It had been high session in all the other sites too and yet they were less expensive. What advantage was there for a club member?

Lovely site to stay for our first journey in our new motorhome. The site was recommended by a friend and they described it perfectly. Quiet, clean, within walking distance of the local town and great for dogs. Staff were kind and helpful when we experienced problems with our mh. We are sure we'll return many times. An excellent choice to begin our touring journey. Thanks.
