Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Despite visiting the site on a very wet weekend we really liked it, Friendly and well run, Toilets/Showers well kept. Pitches well spaced and level with easy access to good hard surface internal site road. Interesting narrow lane access with passing places but thats about the only criticism I could offer. Site was quite at night and all one would need as a base for exploring the surrounding area.

Our first visit but not our last.

This review is for Barnard Castle

Our first visit but not our last. This site was easy to find and great for our motor home we had a hard standing pitch. lovely area to walk and clear instructions given for walk into Barnard Castle which we and our dogs loved. The staff were warm and welcoming and the site very clean. Great fish and chip van which visits site twice a week. We felt most rested during our stay here .We will be visiting again sooner rather then later :)

The site now has directions for the walk into Barnard Castle which you can buy for 20p. These were very clear and very useful - much easier than using an Ordnance Survey map. Everything was particularly clean and tidy.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, will definitely return. Fabulous. On arrival we explained that it was our first venture, after some witty banter from Andrew ,we checked in and he directed us to our site watching my reversing and gave us every help we needed. This approach made us both feel very relaxed and happy with our first visit to B' Castle, will return without doubt.
