Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Visited this campsite on two separate occasions, two nights each stay.

This review is for Barnard Castle

Visited this campsite on two separate occasions, two nights each stay. We are converting a mini-bus into a camper-van and are novices to camping. The staff gave us great tips and advice to help us get established. This is a family/ dog friendly site. Stayed here Easter weekend, staff organised a free egg hunt including Easter eggs for children taking part which added to the happy atmosphere. Even given a doggie treat bag for our dog. The showers are clean and tidy. Friday evenings a pizza van visits the site and on Saturday a van visits selling fish & chips both very tasty and great value for money. We will definitely be returning

I visited this site at Easter and although it was full there was not queues for the showers.

I visited this site at Easter and although it was full there was not queues for the showers. A friendly welcome and was shown to my pitch. The ground was a bit boggy but as no more rain fell the ground dried. The pitch was pretty level and only required a levelling ramp, so not too much messing around. The walk into town was pretty muddy and steep in places but reasonably easy to follow. The facilities were always clean and there was no noise even although the site was busy. Once in the town there is about an 8 mile circular walk along the river which is very nice. I would recommend this site.
