Ideal site for exploring Teesdale & the Yorkshire Dales and outdoor pusuits.

If you’re looking for peace and tranquillity, a rural location with plenty of walking and cycling opportunities our Barnard Castle Club campsite is for you.

Located on the north eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, handy for the attractions of Teesdale and within walking distance of Barnard Castle or Barney as it is known locally, the tree-lined campsite is the perfect place to relax and unwind.

This pretty tree-lined campsite has 90 pitches. The camping field is level and has a well placed modern facilities block offering showers/toilets, a laundry, disabled facilities, a parent and child room and a dish washing area.

There are plenty of walks direct from the site and an excellent dog walk for those who don’t want to venture too far. Children are catered for with a play area and the visiting fish and chip van comes highly recommended.

There’s fishing at Balderhead and Hury reservoirs to the west of the site.

For days out visit the Bowes Museum, Bolton Castle, the Wensleydale Creamery Visitor Centre, the Dales Countryside Museum and England’s highest unbroken waterfall, High Force.

Ready Camp is available at this campsite. (Please note that, although we welcome dogs on this site, in the interest of all guests we do not permit pets to stay within the Ready Camp tents).

We came with family who also had a caravan. But also some hired the Ready Tent. Which was really nice. Staff managed to place us altogether so we had a lot of fun being there. This was my second visit the rest of my families first and all have said they would stay again. Can't fault the available facilities, or the Staff Lovely Little site, quiet, peaceful country site.

I had never heard of Barnard Castle before my visit.

I had never heard of Barnard Castle before my visit. Lovely interesting market town a couple miles from the site (nice walk to it if you are energetic). Site level with good facilities.. though the bins are all one end so it was a walk to get rid of any rubbish. Superb walks in the area - I headed 20 mins up the road to Bowlees visitor centre and was given an 8 miles walk to the waterfalls and up into the hills which was great. I then returned to enjoy something in the cafe. If you haven't been to Teasdale before... this is an excellent place to stay.

Upon arrival Simon was very helpful as we had booked using the mobile app, which due to poor signal where we were at the time, we were struggling to get the app to work. Finally, we booked but when we arrived it had booked us as a tent on grass, when in fact we are an 8mtr 4.5 ton motorhome, which would have totally destroyed the neat grass on the site. The site hard standing was fully booked for the weekend but Simon arranged for us to stay on the late night pitch for our 2 days. There is a walk into Barnard Castle from the site through fields and woods, which in the wet can be slightly tricky as there is one steep section which gets very slippery, the walk takes about 30 minutes but gets you right into Barnard Castle town.

This is a lovely well maintained site with excellent facilities and very friendly hard working staff. It is well positioned for access to a lot of local attractions eg High Force waterfall and Bowes Museum which has a wonderful shoe expo until October 2016. Hawes(home of Wensleydale cheese etc. There are plenty of walks, cycling trails etc. But the best thing is the music of the night.
