Tregurrian is a great for watersports & people looking for a seaside holiday.

Camp at our Tregurrian Club campsite and you’ll be spoilt for choice of beaches to visit. There are fourteen close to our stunning campsite in the North Cornwall, located just north of the popular seaside town of Newquay.

Watergate Bay is the closest and is a short walk from the campsite along the South West Coastal Path. This two-mile stretch of golden sand is popular with families. The Atlantic swell here also makes it equally appealing to watersport lovers. The beach hosts annual surfing events too.

Surfers will also be drawn to Newquay for Fistral Beach which also hosts a number of events through the summer including surf championships, a fun dog show and the popular Boardmasters event which includes skate and BMX competitions, live music and competitive surfing. Other attractions of the town include Newquay Zoo, and the Lappa Valley Steam Railway and you could spot seals and dolphins in the harbour.

Our pretty Tregurrian campsite offers 90 level pitches. The well thought out site has immaculate faciliites including a handy wetsuit shower.

A few miles up the coast Padstow has some excellent restaurants, including one owned by celebrity chef Rick Stein while Watergate Bay is home to Jamie Oliver’s 15 Cornwall Restaurant.

Worth Noting

There is a wetsuit shower on site. Watergate Bay Beach is just 0.75 miles away and is dog-friendly all year round.

We had a warm welcome and were given a choice of pitch.

We had a warm welcome and were given a choice of pitch. We had a great TV signal even though we were in the middle of the countryside. Part of our stay was during a busy weekend when the site was almost fully booked. However the quantity of visitors did not affect the standard of cleanliness or access to facilities. The site has access close by, to the Coastal path which runs along the coast in both directions. The views are stunning. It is about 3 miles down to Newquay. It also passes through Watergate Bay. This is about a mile from the site. The decent into Watergate Bay is steep and only for the fit. Those who are not as agile can drive down and park in the Bay car parks. ( The car park nearest the beach is quite expensive but there are other options which do not have charges as high.) Before reaching Newquay, the path passes through Porth. Porth beach is fantastic for families and far more accessible and probably safer than Watergate Bay. One evening a week some of the professional surfers run a family night to encourage youngsters to become involved in the sport. The pretty village of Tregurrian has a book exchange located in the bus stop if visitors are avid readers. A bus can be caught here to neighbouring destinations such as Newquay. We would certainly recommend the site to anyone wanting a Cornish break.

Well what can I say, but a very big thankyou to the staff at Tregurrian, who went above & beyond the call of duty , so to speak, nothing was to much trouble, especially on the 19th, when they held their 50th.year Site anniversary, (such a shame the president couldn't attend), was informed the site couldn't afford her??? surely it is her duty as PRESIDENT, to attend such functions without expecting any financial remuneration, after all what do we club members pay for, after all it was partly us who voted her in, did we not ??, but praise where praise is due, Matt Smith did a brilliant job,(don't know who the lady was that was propping up the wall, who just about grunted hello, when my wife tried to speak to her ??) lets hope we can see a few of Matts' pictures in next months magazine, with the winners of the baking competition etc??? the staff worked tirelessly to put this event on, so a very big pat on the back for them, overall this is a beautiful site, but you need a strong pair of legs (which I don't have) to get down to the beach, as it is a long steep walk(so i have been informed), lots to see & do in the area, with some lovely carvery's close by, especially the Smugglers Inn, (just past, the Newquay AIRPORT), with 3 different size plates & prices to choose from,, also lots of lovely beaches to choose from, all parking has to be paid for, (even Blue Badge holders) average price is approx. 3.50 a day.. i could go on & on with the good bits, but i wont, the only downside to Tregurrian, is the AIRCRAFT movements, averaging between 15 & 30 a day, some small aircraft, but mainly budget airlines, Monarch, Flybe, Easyjet, to name a few, one day Easyjet were practicing landing & taking off, around 14 times, so wasnt quiet

Great welcome from all the staff who worked extremely hard for the 50th Anniversary of the site. Superb cream teas, raffles and games outside the decorated canopy for the celebrations. Thank you for a memorable day. Beautiful hot weather for our visit and superb walks and views along the coastal path to Watergate Bay. Excellent food van "Ansum" visits the site with reasonable prices. We would definitely return and hopefully the very hot water in the showers will be cooler, perhaps a cold water supply problem? Motorhome waste water point cover is hinged requiring careful manoeuvring and would be better if it could be lifted out or a grid replacement provided. Great site well worth a visit, looking forward to our return.
