Gwel-an-Bal is a peaceful family- run campsite nestled in the heart of West Cornwall, offering stunning panoramic countryside views and a relaxing atmosphere for campers of all ages. Open all year round, the site provides an ideal base for exploring Cornwalls beautiful coastline, picturesque towns, and renowned beaches. Our well- maintained campsite offers both spacious grass and hardstanding pitches with electric hook ups, catering to tents, caravans, and motorhomes. Guests can enjoy excellent on-site facilities including modern shower and toilet blocks, washing-up facilities, a convenient laundrette, and a pizza oven area perfect for relaxing with family and friends. Ideally situated in the village of Townshend, Gwel-an-Bal enjoys a central location with easy access to many of Cornwalls most popular destinations. The vibrant harbour town of Penzance is just 10 minutes away and the artistic seaside town of St Ives is only 20 minutes away. The North and South coasts are easy to reach, making it a perfect location for exploring the very best of Cornwall. Whether youre seeking a peaceful countryside retreat, a family holiday, or a convenient touring base, Gwel-an-Bal offers a warm welcome, excellent facilities and a tranquil setting to relax, unwind and enjoy all that Cornwall has to offer.

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operate under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents*, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family-friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

*Tents are not permitted on some CS sites in Scotland.
