An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near the North Cornish coast

You’ll find some of north Cornwall’s best bathing and surfing beaches within easy reach of our Bude Club campsite. The campsite boasts a prime location in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty between Boscastle and Crackington Haven. Bude lies nine miles to the north, while south are Tintagel and Camelford.

After a day spent soaking up the sun on the beach our Bude campsite is the perfect place to sit back and relax and enjoy the fantastic views over rolling countryside. Bordered by hedges, the campsite has a separate field and you’ll find a recreation room in the facilities block and a small children’s play area opposite reception to keep younger campers entertained while on site.

There’s a pleasant walk to Crackington Haven over fields and stiles from site where you’ll find a sandy beach and an abundance of rock pools. The nearby fishing port of Boscastle is worth visiting. Learn about the legend of King Arthur in Tintagel, enjoy a cliff top walk to the castle ruins and Merlin’s Cave. Just south of Tintagel Trebarwith Strand is a popular surfing beach and dog-friendly. Port Isaac, made famous by TV’s Doc Martin and Boscastle, a delightful fishing port with white washed cottages, steep narrow streets and alleyways, should not be missed.

North of Bude campsite, Widemouth Bay and Blackrock Sands is fabulous for surfing and sunbathing.

Site advertised that they now have a designated dog walking area.

Site advertised that they now have a designated dog walking area. This turned out to be no more than a narrow strip of grass at edge of site which was fenced off but open at each end. We couldn' t use it on our visit with 3 dogs as it was too slippery and nowhere near long enough.

No walks near to site, therefore had to drive everywhere, The Office was open very restricted hours, that having been said, it was very late in the season, only about 10 units maximum on site - so really no need for more hours. Manager and wife friendly. Away from site, some of the coastal roads were, to say the least 'challenging'. The scenery, locally was to die for. We booked this site, not really realising how far away the main 'Cornish' attractions were, and, were somewhat disappointed, when we drove the 60 miles to Penzance to a National Trust Garden, on a Friday, to find it closed (0/10 to the National Trust!). Locally the coastal villages were outstandingly beautiful, and the locals very friendly. We located several wild and windy places where dogs were allowed on the beaches, although some beaches operate seasonal bans - and were there during some wild weather (2 nights little sleep expecting the awning not to be attached to the van the following morning! A little remote for us, so possibly wouldn't revisit, but a great area to relax and recharge.

We stayed for three nights one week and returned for two nights the following week. We had a problem with our fridge and Ian recommended a local engineer who repaired it on our second visit. The site is very pleasant, if rather too far from a bus stop for elderly clients. There is a distant sea view and a rural outlook. Some noise is evident from the main road outside but not enough to cause a problem. The staff are a delight, we hope to see them again on our next visit.
