Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

We original booked two nights but so much to do we decided to stay another night. Site was lovely and staff very friendly and helpful . Showers hot & toilets etc very clean. Cheshire Oaks outlet shopping was about half hour drive away, and the train station was next to the site, trains run into Chester one an hour so great for going sight seeing .

Have stayed at Delamere many times and will continue to do so.

Have stayed at Delamere many times and will continue to do so. I agree with many other reviewers in that there is always a cheery welcome , the site is well maintained and the toilet and Shower facilities kept sparkling clean , which at times, in inclement weather cannot be easy . However , and I believe it is a big however in this day and age , the function of the push button showers is absolutely appalling . Three to four seconds and the water cuts off . Try to be clever and hold the button in and the shower cuts off and starts again . Press after two seconds while the stream is running and it cuts off anyway. This is not a rant at the Wardens as they do what they can with what they have got . This is directed at the Club hierarchy which has presided over this situation for a considerable time. It's a basic plumbing issue surely which can be fixed with some investment. Heaven forbid you may have to close the facilities in rotation for an upgrade but isn't this what our site fees pay towards. I have noted that a couple of other reviewers have mentioned the issue . I also know that some site complaints have been made . Perhaps those of us who are regular visitors need to be a bit more vocal with the Club hierarchy direct.

First time to this site, it wont be our last. Train station close by only 16 mins into Chester. Next to GoApe and situated next to Delamere Forest, so plenty of woodland walks. Would like to thank the staff especially Geoff who helped us out with our over heated battery.
