Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

We were trying out a new tent and the site was perfect for this. Good for overnight stop but a bit noisy for longer stay; however, a lovely site in middle of forest complete with loud dawn chorus! Easy access to forest activities, walking, cycling (cycle hire nearby), adventure activities, wild swimming in Hatchmere. Good public transport services to Chester, Manchester, Liverpool; easy reach of N.Wales, Derbyshire and nearby counties. Lots of info on site for local attractions. Shop seems to be adequately stocked. Fish & chips on Friday evenings. Pizza and Chinese, etc., takeaway leaflets available on site. On the downside, there is a proliferation of prohibition notices; a bit too many, maybe. Site management is good but site information leaflet a bit ambiguous and confusing.

Only comment is that we hoped to have the option of a pitch o a certain side of the site as the weather forecast was very good. As we arrived on the Thursday as opposed to the Friday and there were plenty of pitches free in our preferred area we thought would be possible. But we were told some were pre booked as there was a group of several units booked together. We weren't aware you could pre book pitches and thought allocation was on a first come first served basis providing the pitch met the criteria that you had specified when booking, in our case hard standing electric with awning? Otherwise only positive things to say about this site.
