Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

We were only booked in for two nights and were grateful that it was only a short stay as this site does not live up to the high standards we have enjoyed so far. The wardens are welcoming and friendly but the site needs a lot of investment. Toilet facilities are inadequate when the site nears capacity and you might have to wait for a toilet or shower cubicle only to find that it had not been cleaned or flushed by the previous occupant. Yuck! Also some seats are stained and need changing. Service roads on the site were potholed but the wardens were filling them in with loose gravel, more permanent repairs are required. Many hard standing pitches are in need of repair as the gravel is disappearing and grass and weeds are reclaiming the pitch. Whilst our hard standing was in good repair, it was on many guests route to the toilet block and they walked across our pitch even with dogs between our car and the van. Sometimes right by our table when we were eating. The entrance gate is kept closed during the day and, not being automatic, you have to get out of your car even in torrential rain to open and then close the gate. This is crazy! Road noise can be heard even inside the caravan. I am afraid to say that this is the first site we have visited belonging to either club that we will not be returning to

First visit to a CCC site.

This review is for Delamere Forest

First visit to a CCC site. Warm welcome, explained why we had to park in the middle of pitch or if the other way against the peg - it was done in a very pleasant manner. The site is right next to the woods. Its amazing. The 2 year old loved it. Looking at the other reviews I'm really not sure what they expect. The kids don't need a playground when they have trees to run around in. Me, the misses and the nipper were shattered. The Gruffalo Trail in the morning and running round the woods in the afternoon. The nearby cafe was well received and did a lovely greek salad. After this site I'm really glad we have given up our membership of another club. The mix of Tents, Vans and Motorhomes seemingly holding friendly people and loads of children running around makes for a lovely weekend away.
