Travelling from Devon to Scotland we considered it was worth driving away from the motorway to stay somewhere nice. This proved to be a good choice. Arrived quite late but the staff were still welcoming and happy to take time telling us about the nearest (about a mile away) pub etc. Went there for supper ... food was good. Would like to return and explore the forest and meres some more.

Wardens are friendly and nice. The site is kept in good order. Forest is next door, as is go ape. The forest is wonderful, and has wide stone paths, plus narrower ones more into the forest. There are lots of up/ down slopes though. Nature abounds too. Segways to hire with leaders. Train next to site, to Chester ( just 2 stops away ), and Manchester train across the tracks. We had a good time at this site, as did our Sheltie dog, who also enjoyed the train ride to Chester. Will certainly be going back !

The site was level, very tidy and well looked after. Being only 5 mins walk from the train line which takes you into Chester, was a bonus as was the easy access to the walks and cycle tracks in the forest. The only negatives were the traffic noise from the A49 and the disappointing number of people who felt it unnecessary to clean up the showers or chemical waste area after themselves.
