Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

This is a really good site made even better by the friendly attitude of Cliff and Gill, the wardens. Great walks in the woods adjacent to the site and around the Mere. You can go to the visitor centre and Go Ape or wander out into the forest for peace and quiet.Definately a place to come back to.

We are regulars here and this time found a new team of staff. Very pleasant welcome and our special request met. Site is quiet except for about 8 a.m. when the commuters go past and at this time with no leaves on the trees we heard them. (Did not distract from our enjoyment.) The nearby train took us to Manchester and the Chester P and R is just down the road. Blakemere Craft village is worth a visit and if you want a posh lunch in beautiful surroundings try Abbeywood on the main road.

Our second outing in a new van. Easy access via Frodsham.

Our second outing in a new van. Easy access via Frodsham. Friendly greeting by CCC staff who guided us to the pitch and helped us back up. We found all the staff very helpful. Selection of hard standing pitches was offered. I picked 10 at the far end of the site next to forest access (and the railway). Very quiet and peaceful. We did hear trains a few times but only as background noise, it didn't intrude. Walked in the forest on Fri afternoon and had coffee at Delamere Forest cafe. Excellent food at the Vale Royal Abbey Arms for tea only a few miles away. We snacked at the station cafe on Sat then took the train to spend the day in Chester-£8.50 return for 2adults and 2under 3's. Left Sun. Great, peaceful break for us. Helpful and pleasant staff and other guests. All the facilities we needed.

The location of the site is its main attraction.

This review is for Delamere Forest

The location of the site is its main attraction. We have visited many times since it first opened several years ago as it is within very easy reach of the forest's numerous cycle routes. For just this reason we have recommended it to our friends. The site doesn't have marked/peg pitches on the grass and this means that units end up erratically spaced. There are many areas of worn out patches with no grass, for this reason I'd recommend that visitors with motorhomes and caravans opt for the hardstanding as they are much better spaced. Upon arrival you will be given a long list of rules which must be adhered to - the site manager appears to take his responsibilities very seriously. We love the location of this site and it is a potential gem for the club with huge possibilities. Within walking and cycling distance are walking / cycle routes of varying lengths, Go Ape, the station and a nice pub. Slightly further away are the town of Frodsham and of course the city of Chester. Lots to do in a fantastic area.
