Enjoy walking, cycling, Go Ape and concerts from our forest-based site nr Chester.

Cheshire’s largest area of woodland surrounds our Delamere Forest Club campsite. Located in the west of the county near Chester, Delamere Forest covers some 950 hectares providing outdoor lovers with boundless walking and cycling opportunities on its network of paths and trails direct from the campsite. There’s a Go Ape! course too – with zip wires and Tarzan swings - for those with a head for heights.

The mixed deciduous and evergreen trees of the forest surround the campsite. These green surroundings complement the campsite’s many environmentally-friendly features. The excellent on site facilities include a parent and child shower room, laundry and washing area in addition to showers and toilets. The site shop stocks the essentials, further afield RM Wilding and The Hollies farm shops supply a wider range of produce.

In nearby Delamere, Abbeywood Gardens incorporates a two kilometre wildlife walk, while Stonyford Cottage Gardens at Northwich has a woodland walk. Enjoy a boat trip along the River Weaver at the Anderton Boat Lift also near Northwich. The campsite is also handy for Oulton Park motor racing circuit near Tarporley.

To venture further afield, you can catch a train at Delamere station a short walk from the campsite where regular services operate to Manchester and Chester.

We stayed one night in April and will definitely stay again. Forest is "open" in that you are mostly walking in dappled sunlight, not in shade on dry wide paths. Will be great for the sort of casual (slow!) cycling we do, with miles of off road paths. Trees don't get in the way (mostly) of having that vitamin D moment sitting in the sun by the van! Train station next door (we were not disturbed by the trains) takes you into Chester or Manchester with plenty of return timing options. We went to Chester Zoo the next day (fab place) and will use this site again to go there, instead of the CC site by Cheshire Oaks which is remote, but not in our view "nicely remote" - longer return trip though.

Next to rail station for regular easy access to Chester or Manchester. We went to Liverpool via Chester to do Anfield tour and Liverpool shopping. Also enjoyed cycling and walking in forest and around lake, Go Ape very nearby for the more adventurous. recommend the Segway experience!

Contacted prior to stay to check a few things that were needed for our stay an was guaranteed these things would not be a problem, nothing major, just somewhere to store 3 air beds for 2 hours during tea party an the caterers to be allowed to the tent in what would be a second car for approx 20 minutes. This was confirmed before booking and then again the morning of, as I myself wouldn't be there during the times of set up. When arrived at the tent the caterers had been refused entry to the campsite by the same woman I had spoke to to confirm on 2 occasions an there was no where to store beds for the 2 hours. I understand if something can't be done and if I was told this I could've made other arrangements but to be told that it wasn't at all a problem to confirm booking then to be let down so much after planning and confirming 2 months in advance was so upsetting an ruined what could've been a good stay.
