A wonderfully secluded campsite hidden in the Welsh hills.
Rhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) Club campsite lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name means ‘Valley of the minerals’ and is a lead mining area in the Towy Valley.
The campsite is situated in the middle of the valley and the lively River Towy run alongside it. The campsite is spacious and well set out with excellent facilities. Surrounded by hills and trees it’s ideal for families or individuals interested in walking, cycling or just relaxing.
There are many beautiful hill and river walks within easy reach of this campsite. The Cambrian Way passes through the edge of the site. The circular all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite is perfect for cyclists. There are two nice pubs in the village, your reward for completing the steep climb up to them!
Head south from the campsite to the Usk reservoir in the National Park. An eight-mile trail wends its way around the shore. Fishing is available here too. The nearby Glasfyndd Forest also has great walking and cycling tracks.
Llyn Brianne reservoir is also worth a visit. The road around the reservoir has some breathtaking views. Also visit the subterreanean world of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. As well as the caves you can visit the dinosaur park, shire horse centre and the Iron Age village. The 13th century hillside Carreg Cenne Castle is south of the campsite near the village of Trapp.
Don’t miss a visit to the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve where you can spot red kites. You can see more red kites as well as ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm Bird reserve in the market town of Rhayader.

Excellent walks in the immediate area with some great information and maps provided by the site office. We had a very relaxing 5 days and slept so easily in this peaceful location by the river flowing in the background. A great switch off place to go to.

Our first trip out in our newly acquired camper-van. The welcome could not have been more friendly or helpful. This is a beautiful site with the river Towi running through it (fish-able). Good local pub, R.S.P.B site nearby-ish ,ask Wendy and Barry (the wardens) for directions, but don't pay too much attention to the mileage as Welsh miles seem to be longer. Overall a fantastic break . We'll be back.

The wardens are really friendly and only too happy to share their knowledge of the area. It was a nice welcome and they worked hard to keep the site in great condition. The nearby river was a magnet for the dog and the numerous walks ensured he was tired at the end of the day. We ate in the Royal Oak pub, which was dog friendly and served great food and real ale! Only 10 mins walk from site. The countryside is beautiful and there are many walks/drives in the area. The small town of Llandovery is about 20 mins away and has 4 trains a day to Swansea or Shrewsbury, with stops including Builth Wells and Llandrindod Wells is you want to venture further on a scenic rail journey. This is a site for those who like to get out into the countryside. It is maybe a little too quiet for younger children, but if you like a peaceful break, this site is for you. We would definitely return as the site ticked all the boxes for us.
