A wonderfully secluded campsite hidden in the Welsh hills.

Rhandirmwyn (pronounced ran-dee-mo-n) Club campsite lies just outside the Brecon Beacons National Park. The name means ‘Valley of the minerals’ and is a lead mining area in the Towy Valley.

The campsite is situated in the middle of the valley and the lively River Towy run alongside it. The campsite is spacious and well set out with excellent facilities. Surrounded by hills and trees it’s ideal for families or individuals interested in walking, cycling or just relaxing.

There are many beautiful hill and river walks within easy reach of this campsite. The Cambrian Way passes through the edge of the site. The circular all-ability access trail in Cwmrhaeadr Forest, one-and-a-half miles from the campsite is perfect for cyclists. There are two nice pubs in the village, your reward for completing the steep climb up to them!

Head south from the campsite to the Usk reservoir in the National Park. An eight-mile trail wends its way around the shore. Fishing is available here too. The nearby Glasfyndd Forest also has great walking and cycling tracks.

Llyn Brianne reservoir is also worth a visit. The road around the reservoir has some breathtaking views. Also visit the subterreanean world of the National Showcaves Centre for Wales. As well as the caves you can visit the dinosaur park, shire horse centre and the Iron Age village. The 13th century hillside Carreg Cenne Castle is south of the campsite near the village of Trapp.

Don’t miss a visit to the RSPB Dinas Nature Reserve where you can spot red kites. You can see more red kites as well as ravens and buzzards at Gigrin Farm Bird reserve in the market town of Rhayader.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the beginning of July 2017 and from the start meeting Wendy and Barry who were amazing and very welcoming, very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and the site was immaculate and well maintained, Barry offered us some pitches to choose from which you don't normally get offered. Alan who we meet for a few minutes because he was 100mhp cutting grass and strimming grass lol but was great too, the facilities are very clean. Only issue is the location can be hard to find and there isn't many sign outside the site, our sat nav took us straight to it so it's worth updating them if you have an old one, well done to all the staff at the site.

The campsite was difficult to find, regardless the instructions on the internet.

The campsite was difficult to find, regardless the instructions on the internet. It turned out that we passed the campsite a few times during our search but we were obviously on the "wrong" road. A few more roadsigns would help. We had to leave this beautiful site because of the midges.

“Yet another fabulous weeks holiday at this superb site. Friendly welcome from the wardens who maintain the site to a remarkable standard. The scenery is absolutely stunning and there are some fabulous walks along the river Towy in both directions as well as some more strenuous ones. Can highly recommend this site for anybody who appreciates nature and beautiful scenery. We will definitely be returning.”
