Overview

This is a Certificated Site (CS). These select sites are small, privately run campsites that operates under the Club’s jurisdiction and can only accommodate up to 5 caravans or motorhomes and up to 10 trailer tents or tents, unless express permission has been given by the Club to accommodate more. They range from secluded Hideaways to fully facilitated family friendly sites, and are often found in locations where larger commercial sites are prohibited so you could be camping close to a beach or in the National Park, for example.

We are located outside the market town of March, Cambridgeshire, surrounded by open farmland, big skies and amazing sunrises and sunset. Our 5 acre property backs onto the Old River Nene. Enjoy a riverbank walk into town, fish from our mooring during open season or hire one of our canoes. There is plenty of room for children to play. National Cycle Route 63 and Hereward Way Walk both run by our property, making us an ideal stopping point for cyclists and walkers. We are situated less than an hour from Ely, Cambridge and Hunstanton’s seaside to name but a few places to visit while here. We also run a B&B onsite offering spacious comfortable rooms with private facilities, wifi, guest lounge and award winning breakfasts. Campers can book in for breakfast. Have stayed here a few times now. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Theres easy access to march which has everything from supermarkets to nice pubs. You can walk along the river into march or drive in which only takes a couple of minutes. We will definitely use this site again in the future. This is quite a small site with plenty to do and is tidy and well maintained. You can also book breakfast in the b and b or takeway butties. Some pitches also have a firepit and wood can be purchased onsite. Strict adherence to having dogs on a lead which is great.

Lovely location but too many 'extras' to pay for / difficult access to water.

Lovely location but too many 'extras' to pay for / difficult access to water. There are many positive things to say about this site, which have been identified by other reviews. The owner is very friendly and the warden is very helpful. This is only our opinion but it may help others members to be aware of when they are booking. When we go away we like to get away from all the stresses of every day life and to a large extent you can do this on this site. However to fill your motorhome with water you have to go back down the narrow entrance to locate the tap (which was boxed in by a car) .... after you have booked in. There is also no water tap on the camping site itself (another tap is available at the back of the owners' house). Electricity is by prepaid card + a 5 deposit. The balance on the card is refunded at the end of the stay but if you want to get off pitch early then you may need to wait until the warden or owner is up before you can get your deposit back. I spent the time wondering if our fridge would be defrosted should the card run out! Also there are nice clean showers available but you have to buy a token for the shower as well. I would much rather pay another 3 on top of the 14.50 base price and not have to consider all these extras. Would we come back here? ... probably not for the reasons identified but appreciate that some members may prefer this 'pay as you use' approach.

Small site with good facilities and very friendly, helpful staff.

Small site with good facilities and very friendly, helpful staff. Lovely countryside position, yet easy to get to main roads. Fourwinds offers a small, secluded site out in the country, with activities provided for those who want them. Facilities were clean and tidy and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Site entrance was a little narrow and not easy to find, but the road was quiet and therefore maneuvering was not a problem. Would return and try some of the activities next time.
