Overview

A peaceful haven in the Scottish Borders.

If you’re wanting to explore the Scottish Borders or on the way to or from Scotland, our Jedburgh Club campsite is the ideal stop off. Located close to the pretty border market town of the same name, this campsite is also perfect for walkers.

Jedburgh is a small campsite – just fifty pitches – catering for all types of camper including backpackers. Tent campers have their own separate tree-lined, level area and there is a recreation field beyond. Facilities include toilets, showers, laundry and a wash up area.

There’s a lovely riverside walk into town, if you’re lucky you may spot some of the local bird and wildlife. Once in Jedburgh you can follow a two-mile historic town trail which takes in some of the local landmarks – Jedburgh Castle Jail, Queen Mary’s House and Bonnie Prince Charlie’s House.

More seasoned walkers will enjoy the campsite’s proximity to St Cuthbert’s Way and the Borders Abbey Way. Jedforest Deer and Farm Park just south of Jedburgh as well as lots of animals to see, has a falconry centre and a wooded adventure playground. Jedburgh is also handy for visiting more border towns including Duns, Kelso, Coldstream and Galashiels.

The 250 square mile Keilder Water and Forest Park is a short drive away, offering a range of activities including walking, cycling, star gazing, sailing and canoeing. Jedburgh is also ideal for anyone wishing to experience the unique common ridings – a spectacular display of horsemanship commemorating the centuries old patrolling of the border country.

Eat Local

Two independent butchers in the town source all their meat locally. There are two local bakers within a few miles of Site. The Simply Scottish restaurant serves predominantly Scottish food and the nearby fish and chip shop also sells Scottish fish.

Good clean site, close to local amenities, good links to walkway/cycle network.

Good clean site, close to local amenities, good links to walkway/cycle network. Close to Town Centre without feeling like it. The main access is over a small bridge which is also a right-of-way for the locals to a football pitch at the end of the site. Not an issue but some coming and going the night we stayed. Only hard standings were available due to wet ground conditions, not a problem as we prefer hardstanding. Warden was friendly and informative. Jedburgh seems to be on it's summer rundown, it had a bit of a 'closed for winter' feel. Back at the site, the only real observation is that the showers are extremely hot and don't appear to be adjustable. Something to consider as a risk if you have young children. Not sure if that is normal, but if so, it needs sorting out with installation of thermostatic mixers or some other feature. All in all a good stopover for us en-route to Aviemore.

Ry well, and had to be repaired three times in one hour ,whilst I was there trying to,use the toilet.hard standing pitches far too narrow, and we were surrounded by muddy grass.Unable to use our steps due to mud.we shall be not using the site again unless there are improvements. We feel, sorry for the wardens having to,put up with the conditions and poor maintenance of the buildings and poor narrow hard standings.this is a continuance of previous summary ,as it was limited to only 200 chatacters.
