Stay in the grounds of a fairytale Scottish castle on the South Ayrshire coast, with sunsets to die for.

Pitch in the grounds of the cliff top Culzean Castle Club campsite and you’ll be rewarded with stunning views across the Firth of Clyde to the islands of Arran and Ailsa Craig, and the Mull of Kintyre. Our campsite here is in an area rich with beautiful countryside and coastline, fantastic walking, stunning beaches and many interesting places to visit.

Our spacious, secure 90-pitch site welcomes all camping units and offers good facilities for campers including showers, toilets, washing up area and a children’s play area.

The National Trust for Scotland managed Castle and Country Park are a short walk away and includes five kilometres of coastline with sand dunes, caves, rock pools and sand and shingle beaches.

Fishermen can enjoy some fly fishing at Mochrum Loch close to the site. The 24 acre loch is stocked with brown, blue and rainbow trout.

Head north from thecamp site and you’ll come to the coastal town of Ayr with its many shops, bars and restaurants. Just before you reach Ayr, the Burns Heritage Park in Alloway is worth a detour.

The facilities were far to small when this site is anything more than half full.

The facilities were far to small when this site is anything more than half full. Only 2 washing up sinks and not enough toilets and showers. Otherwise I cannot fault the site - except for the poor signage which the Warden put down to the National Trust not allowing them to put them up!

I had a m.cycle and was told off for riding through the pedestrian gate.

I had a m.cycle and was told off for riding through the pedestrian gate. I know rules are rules but if telling me why were the signs about kids on bikes around washrooms not enforced especially as the 10 kids were there till 1040pm. The large grassed area causes issues when cut as it is trailed into all the wash and shower areas giving the impression of being dirty. The bins were not marked as to what item of recycling went in which black bin??? I wanted wifi but when I went to the office one hand with phone and the other one finger typing I could not be bothered to wait....get a speaker fone and you can use two finger typing method. The views were nice but some vans were parked in the premier positions with no-one going to them in the 3 days or even hooked up for electric. seems unfair on those arriving maybe hoping for a view position. Its a good drive to anywhere from here so not a great location for seeing much other than Ayr.
