    Top site for photography

A glorious campsite location at the foot of the Scottish mountains.

Walking boots are a must for campers visiting our Glencoe Club campsite. Surrounded by National Trust for Scotland managed woodland, this is wonderful walking country. The West Highland Way passes within nine miles of the campsite and there are many other low and high-level walks. You can even bag yourself a Munro or two – there are eight within the vicinity of the site.

Whichever of the 102 pitches you choose at Glencoe, you’re guaranteed stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The facilities are excellent and include a laundry, locker room and drying shed.

The eco-friendly Glencoe National Trust for Scotland Visitor Centre is a short walk from the campsite. It has interactive displays, a shop and a café. In nearby Glencoe the Glencoe and North Lorn Folk Museum gives an interesting insight into the history of the area.

Glencoe Activities in Ballachulish offers a choice of 20 activities and tours – from golf and canyoning to rib and Segway tours.

More relaxing pursuits include a ferry ride across Loch Linnhe or embark on what’s regarded to be one of the greatest railway journey’s in the world from Fort William on the Jacobite steam train .

Stayed here for 4 nights and from the moment we arrived Steven and Maureen were friendly and helpful. Pitch size was perfect and the location is just stunning. Toilets and showers were to the standard expected from a club site. Although there is no play area for kids, we had no complaints from our 4 children who loved the freedom to play in such a beautiful setting. This site has to be one of the best that the club has. Many thanks to Steven and Maureen for making our visit so relaxing and enjoyable. Will be back again !!!

A long walk to Glencoe. Loved the quite area though. Just a pity about poor tenting site. As if tenting folk forgotten about. Grass rough, and found very hard to pitch a small tent on dry ground. Price expensive. Got much more at half price at other sites.Toilet block was clean, but dark and long walk. Too many rules. Would put off families. And a pain to punch in code to use toilets.

Having visited this site on several occasions we knew what to expect: clean toilets, hot showers, amazing scenery and the famous Scottish midge! The Clachaig Inn nearby has good food, nice waiting staff and allows dogs in the restaurant. A larger Co-op store has recently opened in Ballachullish and the staff are very friendly. But what spoiled it for us this year was the constant buzz of the saws cutting down the nearby forest - usually from 8am; and also the fact that 2 schools were using the site as a base for their activities. As an ex-scout leader I feel it is inappropriate to use a family-run, commercial site for this purpose and I don't think it's fair to the people who book, and look forward to, their tranquil break only to be confronted with teenage boys and girls exiting the Ladies toilets together and taking over the Drying Room until late into the night! The Camping & Caravan Club might wish to rethink their policy on this! Sadly, I think it may be some time before we return to Glencoe but it's still one of the most beautiful places in the world!
