    Site within National Park

Enjoy this peaceful Aberdeenshire campsite in the in the west of Scotland just outside the Cairngorms National Park, in an area favoured by royalty.

The Club’s Tarland by Deeside campsite lies just outside the Cairngorms National Park and shares the same stunning scenery as Balmoral Castle. The area surrounding the site is tranquil and exceptionally beautiful and rich in historic and prehistoric sites.

This beauty and tranquillity flows into our Tarland campsite. Trees line the site and are dotted throughout separating camping pitches into smaller, more intimate areas. The site has a wooded dog walk, a recreation room with pool table and TV.

The village of Tarland is a five minute walk from site and has shops, a golf course and bowling green. From here you can pick up the ten kilometre Tarland Way walking and cycle path which runs from the village to Aboyne.

Excursions from site should include Balmoral Castle and the Royal Lochnager Distillery Visitor Centre. Braemer west of Balmoral has a castle and the Braemer Highland Heritage Centre. The town is also a popular centre for walking and mountain biking, with no less than 30 Munroes within the immediate area. Scotland’s highest 18 hole golf course is here too. Visit the Glenlivet Estate which includes the Tomintoul Museum, Glenlivet Distillery and Blairfindy Castle.

Used this site many times previously, so know it well. Surprised to see coded barriers on entrance, perhaps there to protect lodges in holiday site ? The site requires a makeover, the facility block is old and appears uncared for, but I suspect that's due to age and difficulty in maimtening a building that should have been replaced some time ago. The motorhome service area looks excellent but, we were unable to use this, so we left a day early as our grey water tank was full and unable to fill the fresh water tank. I feel the money spent on security would have been better expended on the facility block. Perhaps next visit will be a better experience, however the wardens were friendly and helpful as ever, it's not their fault we left early Gordon Ritchie

I was shown to the middle camping field, the warden was more concerned with people chewing up his grass than offering a warm welcome. He didn't hang around, I had to shout after him to find out the direction of sunrise as I was leaving early in the morning. The warden didn't offer me the code to the new barrier, saying I could ride around it in the morning (I was travelling on a motorcycle). We had camped there last year for a short break and I am sure there was refuse facilities where the waste and fresh water is in the middle of the field. Not this time, I had to walk right to the entrance to deposit my rubbish. Facilities were spotless and warm. Tarland is very convenient and there is a food voucher available, which I took advantage of. The site is protected from the wind by the trees all around the boarder - this provided for a lovely area and sheltered from a tent point of view. All in - just a short stay, but not as good as my last visit.

We arrived on Sunday the 12/04/15 around lunchtime after a long drive and the site looked excellent but quite quiet and we couldn't wait to get the dogs out and explore but when my husband went to book in they told us all they could offer us was a road at the bottom of the site! And so we took a walk down to see this wasn't just a quiet lane but a road caravans were actually driving down to turn ! So we declined and left and to be honest if this is what they offer motor homes it's definately not friendly as we walked back to leave there were loads of grass pitches that would have been suitable as the ground was so dry it was cracked and also on the edge of the camp site so we wouldn't be driving over the grass for any distance sadly I will not be back and would not recommend
