Duinrell is much, much more than just a campsite
Great for... a family holiday in the company of other members, with a huge range of attractions to keep children of all ages amused. The beaches of famous Dutch resorts, such as Katwijk and also Scheveningen with its sea-life centre, are close to hand, as are many historic cities – Leiden (the birthplace of Rembrandt), Amsterdam, The Hague, Delft and many others. Members with motorhomes will particularly appreciate the bus service from just outside the site.
Stewarded by Peter and Joan Davison. Rally pitches all with electricity, water and drainage, together in a quiet area at the front of the site but close to the main facilities. Activities (subject to demand) may include excursions to The Hague and Amsterdam, coffee mornings, children’s crafts, a rally group meal, social evenings including quizzes, skuttles, bingo and games for all. Maximum advised unit length 8m.

All day evening activities for children, ten days was enough, shame the weather wasn't warmer to enjoy the lovely beaches nearby. Amsterdam and the Corpus are worth a visit. Quite noisy site even at 11pm on site, cramped site spaces and not much privacy.

Where else can you be on a rollercoaster 10 mins after leaving the relative calm of your caravan?! With so many activities to choose from, we were constantly entertained. Our children (5 & 7) loved the traditional play park, the swimming pools (inflatable arm bands obligatory for children under 1.20m), and of course the theme park rides (there were only three rides which were restricted to those over 1.50m. The Falcon rollercoaster was a treat for coaster fans and anyone over 1.20m can ride it). Beware the Tobogan ride! My husband failed to use the brake and fell out narrowly escaping injury. Unfortunately our children were so tired by the end of the day, not once did we make it to the evening entertainment or kids clubs! Our first experience of a club rally too- stewards, Bob and Lyn, were very welcoming and it was handy to camp next to fellow Brits with their own hints and tips to share. The site can be accessed by day visitors to the theme park (security was not as strict as we thought it would be but no risk of property seemed to be posed). The site shop was well stocked and the village of Wassenaar (5-10 minute walk from the campsite) had a number of supermarkets (check they accept visa before buying). A day trip to Amsterdam was 45 minutes away-we used park and ride (this is a different system to those in the UK - inquire at Duinrell reception before you travel otherwise unexpected charges might unwittingly be incurred). Bikes can be hired on site (we hired go-karts for a day to explore the site - great fun). We would recommend travel by bicycle to access the beach (clean, good facilities) and nearby picturesque towns. In sum - busy, modern, welcoming and family focused campsite. Reasonably clean with excellent facilities. Very good value for money. We will return!
