La Tranche-sur-Mer has literally miles of beaches to choose from

Abandon your car or motorhome at this small family run campsite, within easy walking distance of the popular resort of La Tranche-Sur-Mer. The friendly owners take pride in their facilities, and low season campers and families with young children are particularly welcome. As well as the site pool there is also a water park within walking distance in the resort, L’Auniscéane, with indoor pools and waterslides and lots of opportunities for watersports. But it’ll be the fabulous sandy beaches along this coast, that you can reach on foot, by bike or by bus, that prove the main attraction time and time again.

Owned and run by the Guieau family, English spoken.

the site is in an excellent location, walking distance from a lovely beach and pretty town. The facilities are very good, lovely pool and pleasant bar. However the internal roads leading to all the pitches are very narrow which makes accessing the pitches awkward. Also the pitches we were allocated were very sandy making pegging awnings difficult and getting sand everywhere was unpleasant.

We stayed on this site for 11 nights July-Aug 2017. There were 2 caravans in our party of 7. Location was excellent. Two mins walk to the beach and a major supermarket. Ten mins walk to a bustling resort of Tranche-Sur-Mer which is full of a variety of excellent restaurants, bars & nightlife. Be warned! Site is VERY cramped. The internal roads are extremely narrow and manoeuvring a caravan is near impossible. Pitches are smaller than any site we've ever stayed on. They are c70% the size of a pitch you would find in UK. The pitches are VERY close to each other & despite the foliage placed to segment pitches there is zero privacy. This created issues around noise - we could hear every word spoken by the other campers/caravanners in the pitches close to ours. In my opinion, caravans and tents shouldn't be placed alongside each other. The site is set on sand, with pitches being on sand, grit & occasional grass which meant cleanliness of a unit was difficult to maintain. Some may not be put off by this, but it was a big issue, particularly after a rain shower. Facilities: Great, but spoiled by people staying on the site. For example, the jacuzzi is signposted as "adults only", but was always full of numerous unsupervised children and toddlers. Not only disappointing for adults wanting to use it, but dangerous for the children. The pool was signposted as "no diving", but it was cannonballing galore by most people. The sunbeds are screwed down - you cannot move out of the way of splashes. Toilets & shower blocks on the site were impeccable. Always clean, day & night. But the toilets in the pool area were deeply unclean and had an unpleasant odour. The main issue at this site isn't the site itself, but the lack of adherence to site rules around late night noise & pool etiquette. We met people who return year after year, but we will not be returning.

This site is ideal if you have a family with children under 8 years of age who like riding their bikes and are hyperactive, for all other humans it may be best to avoid, at least in the school holiday period. The details of the site highlight the positive aspects. However .... The site has a large presence of Eurocamp statics and tents, children's clubs are run am and pm with an open air film show every evening. Pitches are not numbered, you are shown to your allocated pitch on arrival. There is no one way road system like sites in UK, people park alongside the road (unlike the UK norm) making passing near impossible. Too many mature trees and tall hedges mean pitches have virtually no sun, they also impede taller vehicle traffic. I am glad I do not have a large motor home or caravan! I will not be returning.
